Last year - Sept 2017 - happened to be in Portugal, a place called Cabanas de Tavira, beautiful spot - for a few days when the Dubs/Mayo football final was on. Went down the local sports bar - crammed with Dubs and every other county ((up for Mayo of course, but that's fine). The atmosphere was unreal, entirely jovial and raucous as you'd expect. Sitting beside a farmer from Antrim and his gang (I was on my tod over there for the few days, long story ... ) Anyway, it was just brilliant. Then, all level at the end, and Deano to take the free that would decide it ... He gets the ball, prepares to take the free ... and all the power goes in the place ... literally ... lights went off, tellys died. Absolutely hilarious the whole place just cracked up, no-one got bothered. I suspect one of the local barmen, who were thoroughly enjoying the whole thing, decided to have the craic. Wonder would the same response break out if it was back home ... ???

A great Dublin team for sure, I'm old enough to remember the team of Keaveney, Hanahoe etc. A great period for Dublin but these guys are better again - fitter, more focused, better discipline.
Lol, I'm living in Stradbally. Happened to be in a local shop last night when a dejected family of Laois supporters came in. I maintained a respectful silence - especially as some of them were big men !!!

Great year for Dublin Gaelic football.
The men win the All-Ireland last Sunday beating Mayo and today the ladies win the All-Ireland beating their Mayo opponents. Congrats all round

I think that he will suck it up and take his 12 week ban ,he is letting the team down ,,was down in Wexford the weekend ,unreal scenes after the win over the cats ,

Congrats to The Dubs. DUBLIN 2-29 ROSCOMMON 0-14
Dublin cruised to a 21-point victory over Roscommon in Saturday night's NFL Division 1 clash at Croke Park. The two league points coupled with the margin strengthens Dublin's position at the top of the table but with no semi-finals this year they travel to Monaghan next Sunday in the last round of regulation with it all still to play for at the business end. The win also cements this team's place in the history books as they made it a record 35 games unbeaten in league and championship dating back to the league defeat to Kerry on March 1, 2015. |
