Sharon and Killian, many thanks.
Killian, got your email and have successfully updated my avatar.
So my avatar is a picture of Creedence Clearwater Revival, which as most of you know by now, is my favourite band of all time. I have all their albums and since 1973 have followed John Fogerty's solo career. He was the voice and lead guitar of Creedence and in my opinion once of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.
Creenence's hits include Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Down On The Corner, Have You Ever Seen The rain, Born On The Bayou, Green River, Sweet Hitch Hiker, Travellin Band to name the most common.
They were huge around 1969-1972 and produced six classic albums in that time.
John Fogerty's solo career started with a country cover album under the name of The Blue Ridge Rangers which is a classic.
He has gone on to produce five solo albums and his famous solo work would include Rockin All Over The World (the Quo hit) and Old Man Down The Road. Both of which were top 10 in the USA.
So enough of the musical lessons. Go out and buy CCR/John Fogerty for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
And Neil Young , you're not forgotten, another legend in rock 'n roll.

Well..my avatar is a spider...cos..well..couldn't find anything else
that I wanted on the list..and I kinda like spiders...so gonna have to
go find one and upload it...
My name as I've said in a previous post is from the band Hayseed Dixies
who are a Bluegrass band that cover..most notably..AC/DC tracks..if
you've never heard 'em..check 'em out..their versions of Back in Black
and Big Balls are brilliant.
My sig is from the Radiohead track Fitter, Happier from OK Computer
which is probably my favourite album from the last 10 years or so.

Mine is just a simple image of a Gibson pick.
Why ? - Because nostalgically I've always enjoyed
playing the guitar pre/during/post Grove days...
Actually the pick brand I usually buy is Jim Dunlop
http://www.jimdunlop.com/ - http://www.jimdunlop.com/
but the Gibson one was the first one I found with
a suitable image size for uploading as an avatar.

Not sure Pat, but I know that the great Robert Fripp has been there since day one.
I've a couple of their albums, my favourite is Discipline, featuring Adrian Belew on guitar. Adrian Belew played with Talking Heads for a while and I think he featured in Stop Making Sense.
Also think Greg Lake and Bill Bruford might've been knocking around King Crimson at some stage.

Pat, I think you need to be in a progressive (sic) mood to give KC a listen, but Discipline is definitely worth a go, imagine Matte Kudasai in the slow set! BTW, Adrian Belew also did a brilliant solo in Bowie's Station to Station. I think Cecil played 21st Century Schizoid Man, but maybe I was dreaming... . Other than those two tracks, I don't think KC and the (Sunshine Band!) Grove were compatible.

agree exAh! though I'm always in a prog rock mood!
Pat, King Crimson are one of those groups whose various members cropped
up in many other great groups.
Robert Fripp, Pete Sinfield, Greg Lake (later of ELP) are the main members I
can recall. Boz Burrell, sadly passed away only last week, played bass after
Lake left, and later formed Bad Company (Can't get Enough) with some
members of Free.
I have their first three LPs - the third one, Lizard is great; Jon Anderson
sings on one track.

Just seen this thread now. Mines the cover of The Sisters of Mercy's 'Greatest Hits Volume 1', also known as 'A slight Case of Overbombing'. Both are misleading titles as (a) There never was volume 2 and (b) the sisters could never really be described as prolific (except in their heyday in terms of bootlegs). I think I own more Sisters bootlegs than any other actual release by them. If you are wondering what ever happened to them then read on. Andrew Eldritch (realy name Andy Taylor) decamped to Hamburg in the early 1990s and swore he would never release another album under east-west. Apart from a couple of greatest hits he didn't. In the late 1990's, being the sole remaining member, he fired himself !
PS: my signature is from a sister's classic called 'Alice'. Its about people who go to great lenghts to distance themselves from reality. Cecil used to play it every week during my time. I've always felt that life should be kept simple and there is an easy way of doing things - the straightforward, uncomplicated way. Well you did ask !

I'm not going on about my avatar again.
Blondie will rustle up a crew with tweezers and "escape the ape" links and all sorts .
Finno will remember that I never answered his query about what exact simian it was.
I'm not going to say anything.

Well seeing as you ask Pat - I think Cillian Murphy is a versatile, talented young Irish actor who happens to be a tad hot into the bargain!! Time for a change though methinks..................

On Saturday night you mention this item. I enlarged the avatar but didn't really gain any new information. But I think you or your avatar at least, is a macaque ?

Finno (lovely to chat to you and your wife btw) - I think you may have done it.
I spent some time trying to chase this down but got so confused looking at monkeys, and I was getting strange looks from people in work!
So next time I'm sl*gged about being an ape or a gorilla, I can say with pride, "I am a macaque".

To start the ball rolling This one could be Finno Aurnia Exgrovehead ?
