Anybody out there that used to go to the grove, then after about 3 years of after that start going to Fibbers? Maybe one of the re-unions should be at fibbers if it's still open?

I do remember when I went there, I'd always see lots of the same people who had been at the grove.

Just a suggestion?? Any thoughts??

I never really went to "fibbers", once or twice maybe but does anyone remember when there was a dance called "the beat club" up there in the same venue?  A lot of the regular neppers used to head up there at 11.30 when our Grove days finished but I cant remember what years the beat club thing ran - the DJ used to have headbanging competitions where he'd pick out the guy/girl he thought headbanged best - wasnt a very big dancefloor!

Yeah, used to go to Fibbers after the Grove. - always drank pints of Snakebite in there - can't remember why , it was probably the cheapest back then. A lot of the old Grovies used to appear in Fibbers.

Yeah, after the Grove did the Bruxelles / Mc Gonagles thing for a while. After Mc Gonagles shutdown went to Fibbers from about 93 - 95. Used to love sitting on the stage people watching. It was also great sitting outside during the summer.

But the toilet situation there just got ridiculous....anyone who was there around that time will know what I'm on about.

After that we pretty much took up residence in the Neptune until Parenthood put a dent in our social life  Now we're recluses who are living for the Grove reunion!!!!

Note to self must organise babysitter.

Feck yes - having trouble organising the babysitter myself.........

Did you meet your other half in the Grove then Esthalon?  There's a bit of that about - Rolo, Pogue who doesn't log on anymore, Dixie and Bluebell of course!

No he's not a dub, But if he was from Dublin he would've been there as he loves the same music (ish - He can't understand how I ever liked Rush although he used to suffer in silence and listen to it...not any more though ;) But he is coming to the reunion and he's been to Isaac's a few times too so he knows what's in store.

Yeah...Im on the same wavelength there - once you felt you definately had to stop going to the grove as you felt part of the furniture it was the move to Fibbers......the old pint of snakebite in hand and sometimes ended up back at the Grove afterwards.......

Fibbers was nickname for Fibber McGees in Parnell Street. Similiar music to the Grove. Natural enough progression from the Grove.

Went to the Cricket Club one night and after queing to get in thought it was crap - left at midnight and went to the Grove for the last hour !

I'm only a Rush blow in so I can't rightly pretend to be offended by your Skerries comment , However it does mean I get funny looks if I wear my Rush/2112 T-Shirt.

Hi Rolo,

Been there only once, but then again I've only been to the pub once since we moved here in May. (Babysitters are a bit thin on the ground). But was pleasently surprised by the music....They played Lizzy!!!!! Seemed like a great pub.

Hi Esthalon,

Blow-in to Skerries, been her 6(ish) years.  There's a good selection of pubs in Skerries.  Stoop ye head and Joe Mays are very popular with bikers.  The jukebox in Nealons is class, got a load of old Grovey type albums on CD in it.  And Dunnes is almost always empty if ye want a (very) quiet pint...a bit tatty though...there's loads more pubs but havent been in them all.  Oh yeah, nice Guinness in the Malting House...

Mel.
