Just to reiterate what I said last night. Thank you one and all for making
last night so much fun. A fitting way to end the "Shieling Era". And the
good news is that Cecil's decided to continue making appearances at the
reunions. So please God, we can look forward to many more fun nights in
the future.
As we're just coming to the end of "revamping" the website, we may not
get our photos from last night uploaded til towards the end of the week,
but I promise they'll be up asap. But please feel free to upload your own
to the gallery. Aswell as our own, I saw many video cameras there last
night, so I'm looking forward to seeing some Youtube moments in the not
too distant futute. I'll open a thread for people to post the links to the
footage on. Also a big welcome to all the Grove Reunion "virgins" who
attended last night, hope you enjoyed yourselves and we hope you're
beginning to see what all the fuss is about !

A quick thanks to everyone involved for making this whole Grove revival
such a success. Your efforts are much appreciated.

Thanks again.

Take care,

Crust.

Really enjoyed last night Crusty even though I went home by 11.30 cos of my baby bump. Was pretty impressed that i lasted that long all the same seen as i'm six months pregnant.

As usual I was chuffed that Cecil dedicated "Rock N' Roll" for me and I did my best to rock out to it

Love these nights and it shoots me right back in time when I thought I was a rock chick...ahem.

Fantastic night was had, although I have made a note to do more dancing and less drinking next time. My poor head!

The attendance was good. Initally the place seemed a bit empty but it soon filled up. Nice to see the Roger Water fan club in attendance, lol! I think I counted 5 t-shirts or were there more?

Looking forward to the next one, wherever it is.

We did it again.....another fab night. So many thanks to you, Cecil , and Andy ,of course. I think we all deserve a pat on the back for creating such a unique atmosphere. Long may it continue, I say.

Thanks to everyone for the many 'intros' over the course of the night.I loved meeting you all in person and I think that really made the night extra special..can't wait to see the photos!

Looking forward to Halloween at the new venue....more good times ahead

Really, really, really nice to meet some people I hadn't had the pleasure of knowing before...Jen,Grainne,Aries and the guy at the small bar who wouldn't tell me his username and said I had to guess. Still don't know! (should have getting your pic...)

Jen-fair play to you-you said you'd make it and you did...Tonto wanted to get a group shot of all the Roger Waters T-shirt wearers but couldn't get them in the same place!

And Grainne-true to your word-you came into the bar beforehand-looked like you fitted right in!

Think I enjoyed last night more so than the 40th-not sure why.everyone seemed in really good form.Crusty-must say the tracks chosen were really well thought out-every one was a reminder of those glory days. I stopped going before the whole Grunge thing so I finally got to mosh to Nirvana last night! An experience! Took about 15 seconds to realise you don't need to say 'sorry' when you pogo into someone and that was the idea... Poor Whippersnapper lost a lens from his glasses during it-hope it turned up WS!

A fab, brilliant, nostalgic, magic night. Huge thanks to Crusty and Cecil.

I have to agree Floydman, I enjoyed last overall more than the anniversary
reunions, even there were probably a couple of peaks at the 40th that last
night didn't have, the atmosphere overall was better I think. Compliments to
you all for that.
And fair play to you Floydman for running off the extra prints, you managed
to raise an extra €100 for the charity. Thanks so much!

More on the charity on the updated website.

That's great Andy-it's all good-and anything that adds to the charities can only be good. Fair play to Tina-I was hoping she didn't view it as extra work...as if she hadn't enough to do!

Polly-we missed you last night!

Hope that 'other thing' you were attending was a success...maybe see you at the picninc next month?

Cheers to Crusty and Cecil for the music - great stuff again.

Good moshing towards the end, but surprised that there was so little overall - glasses back in some sort of shape, thanks to Tony and Martin for the assistance in finding missing lens! It was someone else'e lens, found my own later!

My right knee and left arse cheek are in tatters - took a few falls in the mosh and am paying the price. It's getting tougher each time. Particularly at 7 o clock this morning - felt a touch rough!

As for meeting up with those I haven't met before (Kate, Grainne, Star and whoever else I've forgotten) - great fun, really enjoyed the few pints before we headed in.

 Till the next one

Superb-- I can smell the night. You really captured it

Just got back from Belfast and had a chance to try and catch up on the last 3 days.

Jesus the sites been buzzing.

Carol-- I know what you mean, it's impossible to pick up the threads evan after 2 days-- maybe the best thing to do is to take it from here. There's no way I can go back over all the posts.

Rolo I'm probably too late to wish you and the family a very safe trip but you might pick this up later.

Black and white adds so much depth and interest to a shot, would not have the same impact in colour.

Love the photo of Lynn and Martin really captures a special romantic moment-could win a competition I reckon, I felt all weepy when I saw it...but enough of this did you do some serious drinking at the last reunion? did Russell stay upright? whats all the scandal? any plays comming up?

Hehehe!! Hi Ya Stevie..I should have put the light out ages ago....got into the pictures and here I am.
ove..
I was on the dry for the re-union...we drove over cos we had to leave early (12.30) so nope...didn't get drunk..but Yvonne did of course.

Russell wasn't able to make it unfortunately...was sadly missed.

and the sad news is that this year Coolmine MS are doing Copacabana...!!! Eeek!! ..me..in a Barry Manilow show...jaysus...!! Rehearsals don;t start till end of next month..so have a while yet to mull that one over in my head..

Thanks for the comp on the photos..I like the one of Lynn and Martin too...but technically it wouldn't stand a chance in a photo comp..but then...wasn't taken for that...I asked them to pose for a pic..and that's what they did..hehehe!! Young love huh?

Right..really gotta sleep now...i'll never get up in the morning. Talk soon Stevie

Brilliant photos Hayseed!! Is this more than a hobby for you?

Not yet CarolZ. Still very much an amateur and learning. But hopefully sometime in the future I might find a way to make a few bob from it..help pay for the cost of the equipment which can be quite considerable. But for now..is just a passion..lots of fun...something I'd recommend anybody to take up.

Although many others have already said it - Great photos Robbie and Tony. It's brilliant how well you "captured the moments". I especially like the one with Martin and Lynn. It's so them, the softies.

Mel...That's the last time I depend on you to tell me "Who's here from the forum?" You're sacked as my agent!

So far it seems I missed Muller, Killian, Black Magic Woman, Evangeline, Flumphert, Softlad and God knows who else.

I vote before the next reunion a list of who's going needs to be posted so everyone can be sure they've met everyone if you know what I mean.

Muller at least I'll be able to recognise you from all the photos.

Anyone interested in the vacant Agent position feel free to apply. There's a pint of your poison in it

No prob Blondie we'll work it out no matter where it is

Thats if everyone agrees !!!!

Even the shear fact of getting all the Forum heads in one place at one time, means at least we can meet each other

I had thought about tryingthat on the night..but would be very difficult to get everyone in one place long enough. Would need to be organised beforehand. once it is..be easy enough to sort. :-)

Anyway.I reckon between Tonto and Martin and myself we got almost everyone covered. So if anyone wants to "out" themselves from the pics...fire ahead..

Right at the Picnic on Sunday 19th August around 3ish in St Annes park , we will all take the time to introduce ourselves properly, I mentioned it to Cecil on Saturday night to come along and he said that he would love to.....so whoever has his e-mail or phone number please e-mail/text him to remind him about it.
Gary I made 3 attempts to go over to you on Sat night and introduce myself but ended up getting caught up in other conversations, so hopefully will see you at the picnic

Bluebell,

Thanks for that. I tried as well to meet everyone but had I had friends along and couldn't desert them. ( there's a lesson there)

I hope to make it to St Annes. I have two sessions on a Sunday. Morning and at 6 in the evening but I hope to be able to show up for an hour anyway.

3ish sounds good.

I didnt realise that some of the members you mentioned were there either June.  Admittedly I did meet a few of the gang that I may have, er, forgotten to mention but you know how it goes on these manic nights....

Agree on first point and I think at this stage HD has the right idea - before the picnic, most of us could set up a link pointing to a photo the lads have up. Or a flckr account of your own or whatever. Stick it in the private room and bob's your uncle.

Can always edit your post the day after and remove it if you're exceptionally paranoid. Or maybe Killian or someone can limit access to a certain area of the site to those who agree to post their details - so you see other photos, names etc if you post your own?

As for Mel. Jeez, once that music goes on, Freddie Mercury could come in dressed as Nelson Mandela accompanied by queen victora and Saddam Hussein, headbang away and Mel would be so engrossed he'd miss it.  and rightly so!

Bruns, All is forgiven. (Esp as you gave me a lift home!)

My own fault really as I prob missed people as I was also trying to catch up with some friends that I hadn't been out with in ages.

I like Whippers idea of the photo....we could have a "Hall of Fame" and anyone who wasn't camera shy could post a picture. One shot of each member who volunteered to be there and nothing else in the thread would make it easy to look people up.....not sure if that would take the fun out of things though.

Dam, I already did a post on the wrong site--should have been this one.

The guy I went to the re-union with on Saturday, ( no names ) lost his wife to cancer three years ago

Guess what????? He met someone at the GROVE. She's a seperated lady and they've met TWICE ALREADY.

The Magic lives on

( Whipper--any more cracks about me going on and on and on and on and I'll be really be made )

I was actually going to suggest this myself as a similiar thing was done on another forum I was on and it made it easy for people to meet and introduce themselves to each other at gigs (It was the All About Eve forum, I think). However, we didn't call it the Hall of Fame. It was the Rogues Gallery!
