As some of you already know our very own Jackie Fagan is about to embark on a very worthwhile adventure in support of a very worthy cause. Jackie has asked us to post the following notice which we hope you will take the time to read. IN MEMORY OF MAM. I've been accepted by the Niall Mellon Township Trust to do the building blitz in March. The Niall Mellon Township Trust was established in 2002 to provide homes to the impoverished communities in the townships of South Africa.Its mission is to eradicate urban poverty in South Africa by building sustainable communities.By replcing shacks with low cost,high quality housing and providing community facilities,the Niall Mellon Township Trust aims to improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged people living there. As you may or may not know my Mam RIP,passed away in September and I am keen to do something concrete within the year of her passing to honour her memory.To this end I have been accepted to participate in the Niall Mellon Building Blitz in March 2009.I hope to carve her name in the concrete walls of one of the houses I will be building. The building blitz is where 2000 volunteers from Ireland must each raise 5000 Euro and travel to South Africa to build as many houses in the townships as possible,around 250 in one week. Now to the purpose of this note............I peronally need to raise 5K. I will be running some fundraising events in the near future but if you or indeed any of your friends,can spare any money at this time,you are invited to donate online,using the following link.
