Grovers,
I got the following from Gordon. So I'd appreciate if anyone thinks they can go to indicate same so I can get a fix on numbers as this is a limited ticket gig.
Hiya Pat,
Hope your keeping well,as always may I say a huge thank you from Pat,Paul
and myself to you and all the Grovers for comin out and supporting us on our
Live DVD/CD in the lamb, it was a crackin night, we had a ball, and as usual the
Grovers made the night into more of a party than a gig!! We are forever in your
debt, and by way of a thank you for all that you guys do for us i have some news
for you that you will not believe!
As you know we were out on tour in europe a few months ago and crossed
paths with the legendary lead guitarist from Wishbone Ash, Andy Powell. We got
on really well with him and have stayed in touch, and he recently told us that
he wanted to take a holiday in Ireland. As it turns out after we told him
about how special our gigs in the Lamb can be he has agreed to do a special one
off gig while on his holiday in The Slaughtered Lamb on Saturday 8th of
August!!!! This guy is amazing and the gig will be one of the best you'll ever
see.
This could almost be described as a secret gig! We are only inviting 120
people to this gig, thats it. The tickets are only being sold to our friends and
loyal followers. At the moment we have not announced the gig anywhere because it
will sell out in ten minutes flat, Wishbone Ash have a massive fan base
in Ireland.
Putting on an another intimate gig like this is our way of saying thanks to
you guys for all the support youve given us. If any of the Grovers want tickets
we are offering them to you guys first!!
This will be a magical night, we'll do a few numbers then Andy will come on
and do some of the Wishbone Ash classics with us, please get the word to the
Grovers but try and keep it quiet for the moment, and i personally will ensure
there's as many tickets for you guys as you need.
Thanks as always Pat, and say hello to all the lads for us.
Gordon Sheridan,
Pat McManus Band.

Dentist. Agree with SHH, Pat Mc Manus is awesome.
His gigs are free usually, unless he has a guest with him and we use his gigs are a get together for Grovers since we only have one Grove reunion a year now. Even Cecil himself came along one night and said it was llike being at The Grove.

The band want to get an idea of Grover interest so they can hold tickets for us. They expect this will sell out so they want to make sure we're not disappointed. My guess we'll be paying at the door.

Update on this gig.
The show will open at 8.30pm with Ditch Cassidy & The News (legendary). They will play till 9.30pm or so. Pat Mc Manus Band will be on at around 9.45pm or so and play an hour. Then at around 10.45pm Andy Powell will join Pat and band and play for an hour or so. Then Andy, Pat, Ditch and associated band members will do a jam at the end.
Believe me this is a gig not to be missed.
And I am pleased to announce that it will only cost us €10 each.
I have arranged that tickets will be held for the Grovers listed above and any more who want to go. I personally will get there early to make sure things go according to plan.
So if anyone else wants tickets held, be they Grovers or friends of Grovers, please let me know asap as this gig is going to be advertised soon and I expect a huge crowd.
Not only for Pat Mc Manus and Andy Powell but also for Ditch & The News who are heroes in these here parts.

TRUE! To be honest, I said to Martin when I first start posting, I was afraid of going & not knowing anyone. Never realised the reunions/gigs were that popular with actual former grovers, so doing me bit, heading to see Pat McManus, who my old band supported/toured with when he was in Mama's Boys, there's a claim to fame for ya! A bona fide rock star on the site, HA HA HA HA!

I hope my brother Doish will be there that night an old Grover and member of the last Lizzy and Grand Slam .. so that will make three rock stars ( on the left in poured into leather )
Himself and meself were really into Wisbone Ash and used to have the record player between the two beds.
Every Saturday morning, french toast and tea in bed, Wishbone Ash, Pink Floyd, Dooby Bros., Steely Dan etc etc

Update :
Doors open 7.30pm. Tickets €10.
Ditch will kick off at about 9pm.
Apparently the tickets are specially printed and all Andy Powell, Pat McManus and Ditch will all be aorund for photos or autographs and it's possible they may adjourn to the "Whiskey Bar" afterwards.
Suggest you all try and get there early to get the best seats. I will be on the door holding tickets for us Grovers.
Gary says Jim Corr from The Corrs may also be coming.
See you all then

Agree Gary,
8pm sounds good.
Once you come and get your ticket you can head off or do whatever. I just want to ensure that nobody is disappointed if people come late and the gig sells out.
This is going to be some blast

Just got a call from my old Grove pal Eddie Burns (he posts here under the name Shnitzel) who is back from Germany for a few weeks (he's been gone 20 years) and he'd love to come along as well.
Any chance of a ticket for him as well Pat??
Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm meeting Eddie in Lusk at 7.30pm so we should be in Swords by around 7.45pm.

Just checking my albums. I have 5 Wishbone Ash LP's.
1. Wishbone Ash - 1970 2. Argus - 1972 3. Live Dates (double live) - 1973 4. Wishbone Four - 1973 5. New England - 1976
I was in Swords this afternoon and was looking at the posters for the gig in the windows of The Slaughtered Lamb.
A gang of young fellas with Metallica t-shirts etc.. were walking by and I said to them "you guys rockers?". Turns out they know all about Wishbone Ash, Pat McManus, Neil Young, Zeppelin, Creedence etc...
One of the guys plays bass and actually said he was allowed by "Gordi", that's Gordon, to jam with Pat McManus at a gig.
So there'll all going to try and get in Sat night.
Hope for the future

JTL, your extra two included.
There is going to be a raffle at the gig for the Crumlin's Children Hospital. Prize is an Aria Strat guitar. There's a one in four chance that a Grove person will win as we have approx 30 people going.
Any changes or extra tickets needed please let me know.

Listening to
Wishbone Ash Concert Capitol Theatre (Passaic,
NJ) 01.19.1974 on wolfgangsvault.com
Recorded while the band was promoting its first album of live material (Live Dates),
this recording captures the dual guitar rock quartet at its rockin'
best, when the band was full of fire. It would be the last tour with
the original lineup, as second guitarist Ted Turner would leave at the
conclusion of the tour. It is anyone's guess if the band would have
eventually broken through to be a legendary Brit band had this version
stayed together.

Finno,
I have that "Live Dates" album. Classic and the twin guitar sound was super. Pity the original line up didn't stay together longer.
