Hi All only heard about the site yesterday and thought I would give it a try I suppose you remmber the first dance and the first Girl you went out with allways. It was the Grove where it all happened to me.I would say I prefered the old Grove down in Clontarf. There was a better atmosphere.Gosh the memories are flooding back.Looking back it was the only social gathering place available and only for it God knows what young people would have got up to When It went to St Pauls. It got competition from club 74 and there was a dIvide between the type of muscic

Dondon i keep trying to forget my 1st kiss..laughs but sadly i cant erase that awfull memory from my brain...giggles I thought the poor guy was going to choke me...long tongue he had and reckon it was his 1st kiss also Scene was lovely lying down in a corn field or was i pushed, my sister his sister behind a bush egging us on..lmao me thinking i was all grown up i was 11 i think smiling up at him before he went in for the kill lucky i wasnt standing or his balls wouldve got a right kicking..lol I think now poor guy cant talk after that kiss his tongue all bloody and maybe half of it bitten off....ok joking but makes for a good story..lol Shar ------------- All I wanted was chips!! |

1st kiss wow! French fella down St. Anne’s... us Manor House girls only took lessons from the best.... I well remeber that , a mad scattering to the Jax .especially when I came on the scene.If I got a pound for every"no thanks " I would be a rich Man today.Mind you it was part of growing up when I look back at it now Anther thing, was it just me that wore Brut aftershave then. I seemed to rememeber the waft of it in the dance Hall. Ah those were the days of fun and excitment. I remember I "got off" off with a Clontarf Girl at the Grove.and She loved the Terry Jacks single seasons in the Sun. It happened to herr birthday So I bought it for her in Dolphin Discs and we played it in her sitting room on Sunday a few times. I happened to say what's on the B side, see what's that like. Do you know whats on the B side. Did anyone have the expierence of having a slow set with someone,then before it ended asking for another dance,getting a yes and then Cecil went on to fast music and your still swaying like a MFI wardrobe. Every one else rocking and you looking like a gormless twit, you can't hear what the other person is saying nor can they you. Hi Brendan and Brunswick At least in was it one language . Oh that's Rolo's job on the site I see now,anyway. That chap Pogue has a good sense of humour, Unique though not to everyones taste but he did make me laugh. I was reading a few, one in particular stood out... Why has Noddy no bell on his hat because he is a B......x. Apologies Brendan, It's my mince pies I have to get bi focals as the key board can seem a distance away. I meant the late sixties when she started to go to the Grove. It must have been an ordeal trying to avoid your Sisters at the Grove. I suppose like me you only went on The Saturdays and not to the Sunday Grove.

It was still known as Easons or Belgrove when I started in '68. The Grove
was just the slang name. I think it was much later that it actually became The Grove by name. I remember playing for Home Farm against Belgrove soccer club (like for about a minute and half they let me off the bench) and always connected the Grove to the soccer club, just like the Tennis Club and The Cricket Club. I think even the early membership cards had Belgrove Soccer Club on them but I might be wrong about that...Cecil would know. |

message to pougue. What year did you play for Home Farm.I was there for 2 years. 1977 But I played for the B team.We trained twice a week in Whitehall. I remember we had a knick about with the first team under Dave Bacuzzi. I can't remeber our managers name but they trained the hell out us. We played the odd Game in Mobi Road as well. During a training session,our Manager told us to take off a booth and sock from your knicking foot. So we had to use the other foot to pass the ball. It was his way of teaching us to use both feet. Have to say it did work.There was no way you were going to use your bare foot to trap and pass a ball. I use to watch Belgove play on a Sunday. I would would gain acess to the pitch by the ditch at the far end.Allthough there was barrier and barrbed wire to stop us we still were able to get through it.
