Was listening to Genesis this morning and then wondered
what Genesis songs were played down there? Vaguely remember In Too Deep (hardly prog, more 80's pop) and think I remeber Follow You,Follow Me, but can't think of anything else. Then wondered how much real progressive rock Cecil played. Jethro Tull's Living n the Past and Hawkwind's Silver Machine immediately come to mind. I do remember Pink Floyd's Money (not a real prog track, and if I'm honest,it's actually most Pink Floyd fans least favourite song) and W.Y.W.H.,and of course Focus' Hocus Pocus. What other Prog Rock was played? Edited by Floyd |

Never heard Genesis in my time there '72-'75. Would Argent, Atomic Rooster, Curved Air, Yes, Edgar Winter Group fall into prog rock category? If so all the above had tracks played in the Grove in my time. |

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Genesis - "You Have Your Own Special Way" was played regularly when I went there, 80-83.
Pink Floyd -"Fearless" was played now and then. Yes -"Wonderous Stories". |

Heya Martin,
The Floyd tracks that I recall were 'Us and Them', 'Another Brick in the Wall', 'Money' (which you mentioned), 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' and 'Fearless'. Yes tracks - 'Wondrous Stories' and 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'. Genesis (probably my fave band of all time) tracks 'Many too Many', 'I know what I like (in your wardrobe)', 'Carpet Crawlers', 'Mama', 'Ripples', 'Abacab', 'Your own Special Way', 'Turn it on again', 'Follow you, follow me'. Not sure what other bands fall within the 'prog rock' category - Greg Lake or ELP maybe? Or Marillion? ![]() |

That's cool Frank! Have 10 presets now! God,there's like 20 odd
diffeent categories of Rock alone! Loving it. I don't remember Ripples at a slow set-that would have been just gorgeous dancing to someone to that. Mind you,I probably would have insisted on sitting down with eyes closed listening to every note. Couldn't tell the poor girl to stay quiet during the dance.... 'So,where are you from?'...'shut up woman,I'm listening to this...' |

The Spirit of Radio by Rush,of course, one of the biggest
progressive rock bands in history (introduced to me by Brunswicks brother many moons ago) often got an airing down there too. And you're right Bruns + Robbie-Owner of a Lonely Heart was a regular-possibly well out of their prog era too, like many before them. Have a vague memory of Wondrous Stories too-what a classic. Yes,ELP were deffo prog giants (wasn't Fanfare...played?) and Marillion carried the genre into the 80's,having trouble remembering Kayleigh or Lavender though. |

Camel,Styx,Mike Oldfield all fall into the genre. Wasn't Mike
Oldfield played? Asia were formed from the prog giants and Only Time Will Tell with Heat of the Moment were Grove classics. |

Mike Oldfield, yep - one of those 'Christmas' songs and 'Moonlight Shadow'. I dont remember him ever playing Styx but I always thought that "Babe" by Styx would have made a brill slow song down there!! ![]() |

It helps to have a lot of the records referred to here in 7" vinyl, June. Never managed to get "Fearless" or "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" on single though. ![]() |
