Thought this might be a good topic to start. Comment on new and old bands lastest releases and what you think.

I start it off

U2 releasing their new album then end of the month called "No Line on the Horizon", and the first single from "Get your boots on". As some of you know already I am a big big U2 fan, but I have to say I think their new song is "sh*tE" and it took them five years to come out with that. Yeah I still probably go out and buy it just to keep the my collection going.

Watch U2 perform the new song on The Brits awards last night and Bono strutting his stuff and throwing the same shapes that he threw for the Zoo tv and Popmart tours during the 90's, nothing new with their performance , and as for the Eye makeup, who he think he is Michael Stipe from REM ????...

Mind you I might end up eating my words and claiming it the best stuff ever from U2 but not looking good so far

Not that new, but listening to The Cure's 4.13 dream. I got it for xmas, but had a backlog to get through first.  Its decent based on a few listens. Back to a slimmed down lined up (Smith/Gallup/Thompson/Cooper), this is a band 33 years into their career. Robert Smith is 50 in May this year which is something. The Cure are on Jonathan Ross tonight by the way. I can't believe its 20 years since Disintegration (Smith had turned 30 and produced a stunning album with a title song to match any bad mood!

BR...did you see U2 on the Grammy awards? They were the opening act with an anti-terrorism song and video. Is that from the New album?

Still not sure what I think of it...haven't heard it since. How is the album in general?

The general opinion is that the new U2 album is disappointing. Doesnt look like they have anything new to contribute any more.

I heard the new Morrissey album in HMV in Swords during the week. I've never been a huge fan of his solo stuff but what I heard wasn't bad so I'll have to check it out further.

Just been checking out new band White Lies on myspace. Not half bad.

What I'm really looking forward to is the release of 'Smoke and Mirrors' by The Eden House. This band is a conglomerate of artists from bands such as This Burning Effigy, Fields of the Nephilim, All About Eve and others. The album sampler sounds fantastic.

Interesting the diffferent perspectives on the U2 album from those in  the media who have heard it so far - everything from "excellent - the album they should have released after achtung baby" to "another attempt to pretend they have reinvented themselves".

I am still looking forward to getting it on friday to make up my own mind

Listened to it today Finno for the first time - Outlaw Pete must be the most unusual opening track he has ever had

Anybody listened to Glen Campbell's new album??
No laughing at me, I love listening to him in the shower, blasting out "Rhinestone Cowboy".

That "get your boots on" is a really bad sign for the rest of the album.   Bono has really gone over the edge  He He He!!!    Dying to get hold of Springsteen's new album once I heard it was with the E Street Band.    Lizzie have a remasted release due soon as well - don't know much about it except it is a live album.

Finno, I have only one thing to say to you................
Wha?????????

Pete, I heard on the radio today that the new U2 album is crap. It didn't make top 10 - first time for U2.
They're obviously too busy saving the world to make decent music.

Heard too that Midnight Oil are returning for a concert for something or other. Peter Garret is rubbish at his federal job. Shoulda stuck to singin
