Hello everyone, I've just found this fantastic website thanks to some friends in work and all I can say is "deadly". Cant believe I didnt know about this place before. As the title suggests, I was a grover back in the early to mid eighties. Just wanted to say 'hi' to anyone who was down there in those days, who knows me. Ack, I sound like I'm on the radio "Hi to everyone who knows me!!" My name is Mel by the way.

Hi Mel Welcome to the madhouse we call the grovesocialclub I went to grove around ur time aswell those were the days when we had no sense and didnt have a care in the world When i saw ur name i remembered 2 Mels from the grove a male and a female Mel Female Mel use to go around bitting ppls ankles ffs she was mad but nice other was a very tall guy who was very nice knew every1 both of them did I wonder if you are one of them......I dont know if it says on your profile if you M or F (must check)....lol So Mel dont be shy jump on into the forums and join the fun its mad getting to know ppl in here cause most of us know each other or some1 we know, knows them "Its a small world" Hope you have fun Ciao for now Sharon |

Hey Sharon, I'm male but I'm not really very tall (about I used to hang around with the other rockers down in the extension (or else I used to sit on the table beside Cecil's "wooden boxes" checking out his collection-wow!). I used to get a buzz every time Cecil announced "Crazy Train" by Ozzy especially for Mel and the lads down the back.....I know, I know..I was easily amused.. I was reminiscing with a friend the other day about the Grove days and I had a flashback about my old denim jacket - I did up a "Scorpions" design on the back of it in those 'pastel' things that wouldnt wash off. I was dead impressed with it but the only problem was that I put it so high on the back that my hair (not quite down to my a**) completely covered it. Oh well The more that comes back to me the more I'm sorry that I wont be able to make the reunion tomorrow night. I promise that I will be along to the next one though! Have a ball tomorrow everyone Mel.

Actually, was reminded of something else about my Grove days by my sister and brother (also Grove goers) at a family gathering yesterday. Our cousin was one of the bouncers at the Grove (not every night but some nights) and if he was standing at or near the desk where they take the money he would often say something along the lines of "he's alright", which basically meant we (me or my bro or sis) got in free! Ah, the perks!! Mel. |

Hello All, This website is great, really brings back memories. Was a grove head early to mid eighties. Was just reading some of the topics and am sitting here grinning like a lunatic. Haven't managed to make any of the reunions but will definitely try in the future. |

Hello Lorri and welcome to the site... Yeah it is a great site and it can be addictive for posting on too. I have been at the last few reunions and the buzz is still there when the reunions are on. You should go I reommend it. There are a good few of us here that post constantly and we meet up every so often and then at the reunions too BR |

Actually did meet him Stevie. Can't remember where or when we met him ( it's all a blur still ) but Tommy was with me and I'll have him fill me in. Probably in the big square on Saturday afternoon where all the fans got together to have tea and biscuits before the match. Lorri, welcome to the Nuthouse. Rolo.
