New bits and pieces

ok now I have added a new chatroom. When someone goes in it adds the text 1 online to the link at the top of the forum pages so you will know when people are chatting.

I also added a PM inbox full notification when your inbox is (nearly) full.

Click the chatroom link above. A pop up window appears.
Once you have entered the chatroom, go back to the main forum window and refresh - you will see something like:-
Chat (1 online)  

Sorry Sharon.....was in there a while ago...but all on my own so I came out...must not of logged out ....silly me

Nothing happens when I clicked on that chat icon. Maybe I'm barred

have you pop up blockers in place?
The chatroom works fine for me and is in use on another forum with no probs.

Also who or where is the Chatroom hosting from ?? I want to set one up for my site

Is there any possibility you could consider
reverting back to the original Java based
chat server and maybe placing a link to
"beta chatroom" linking to the newer ASP one
while teething problems are ironed out ?
We're really grateful for the chat facility
it just seems that there might be some
gotchas to be ironed out with the new one.

I've managed to get access to the new ASP based
chatroom a few times but it has a lot of teething
problems. With Opera on XP I get "Ianl has joined"
repeated every second when it refreshes in the
chat console. I seem to be luckier with Mozilla or
IE. However, it seems erratic for many users and
must have much more browser setting sensitivies
than the Java chat.


PS:
I'm a bit biassed because I was a Sun employee
for 8yrs and I have a little more stored faith
in Java than I do in Microsofts ASP technology

Tried the Chat icon tonight and got through. Nobody there though

Two suggestions.

1. I think all new members should get a generic welcome message when they first register. we all send welcome messages to new members but it's impossible to get around to them all.

2. Is it possible to send a PM  to more than one member.  If I want to send a group message or the same message to more than one person, can I select more than one username?
