Well Folks, looking at the thread on membership cards, I was thinking of the days before you joined and had to queue with the general masses - any funny stories while in the queue - lets be having you ! Was there ever a night you did not get in - tell us why and what you got up to instead !

Was at least one night our lot were refused before we got the memberships sorted.  No real funny stories about the queue but I remember being dead jealous of the members strolling past us through the door and also feeling dead embarassed walking back home past those still coming down (these were our early days at the Grove so no drink was involved - dont know what we would have done if we had to head home drunk at 9.00pm or so!!).

Bruns...as it was your cousin on the door/admission point myself and 'Tom Bixby' never had much of a problem. Used to hate standing there, though, before we were members watching everyones else sail by-we felt so inferior...

We did get our passes taken off us for two weeks,though-by the same cousin...for sneaking someone in through an exit...what a long two weeks that was...

When I was groving (lates 70s) a near neighbour of mine was on the door - his name was Junior Flinter - a pleasant big rugby (?) player

Before we got our membership, we had to leave our houses at 6.30 cos by the time we waited and got our two buses to the grove it would be around 8.15 . We alway tryed to make sure we were near the top of the queue cos if we got refused (which we did twice ) it was a long long long journey back to the Navan Road. Anyway after sweet talking the men on the door and pleading our case they gave us memberships after about a month so we didn't need to leave our houses until 8pm then.

Junior was still there on the door mid-late 80's when I went, wasn't he a brother of Big Jim who along with Barry were the 2 main men?

Thought they were tough cookies until I went to Tamanangos and met the infamous Brendan, now there's a Doorman from Hell!

Yep June, remember Noel. Bit younger than the rest of the bouncers. Still see him around a bit. He'd be in HBs the odd time.( If it's the same fella.)

Think he is Mel. See him around a bit. Funnily enough, used always meet him in a particular mates gaff whenever there was a party or anything. Can't remember the connection though.

The grey haired fella on the door was Sean McGuiness a good family friend.  A real nice fella!
