Yahaayy!

The BCI (Broadcasting Commission of ireland) has this week advertised for applications to cater for a Classic Rock Radio station for Dublin City,County and commuter belt.

Deadly!

Crusty-you kow anything about this??? You jumping on board for a Grove FM slot???

Maybe here's a chance for people who WANT to listen to Grove music can tune in and possibly pick up Grove activities if the mods present it to them?

If anyone hears when it is to start keep us all informed...

This would be great. Remember Rock 104 in the early 90's. Class rock and roll and played records from start to finish, no talk over.

Go with it. But anybody with Sky check out the Oldies and Rock channels on your TV - go to Radio channel and check Arrow Rock for example.

But I'd love similiar options locally

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Agree Pat.  Link the sky box to your stereo and then you can turn of the telly and listen through your speakers.  I do this and have the numbers written down for the best rock channels.  Arrow is good!

The Rock was good while it lasted. Was a pleasure to listen to something - I often end up turning off the radio if nothing on Newstalk as can't stand the false American accent type idiots out there

Have listened in a bit to Arrow - must tyr to figure out whether I can do that HT - I hate having the telly on when all I want is background sound. You end up staring at the coloured screen - worse than the test card back in the day.....

Did hear something on 2FM on Saturday evening - Jenny Heuston? Never thought I'd hear AC/DC, Metallica, Deep Purple et al on 2FM. She also had Green Day and a few other modern-ish stuff. Was enjoying things so much I missed the turn and hit Mullingar by accident. Lovely detour back to Tyrrelspass

so, keep us all posted

I'm searching for that cash I should have saved for the crash

2FM used to have 'The Metal Kettle' which had a lot of good rock, some of it a bit on the alternative and sometimes thrash metal, but not bad. Then another one (I think Today FM had 'Dad Rock'-typical classic rock-was great. Until recently Today FM also had Alice Cooper doing a rock show on Saturday nights---loved that- don't know why it was pulled.

I mentioned it before but I always have Planet Rock on when in the house...it's channel 0110 on the Sky box.Probably one of the better ones. Arrow Rock not bad at all,Virgin Rock pretty good, but Planet Rock has great presenters like Rick Wakeman,Tony Iomni and Ian Anderson along with the aforementioned Alice Cooper.

I think the BCI have only put out applications so it's probably a long way off yet.

The channel previously used by 94 the Rock is now a country station or something.
