Right on Pogue, a beautiful looking girl, lovely voice. And very loyal to Chris Stein in his illness as well - a good combination of qualities ...

This 80s "Night Music" late night show was the American version "The Old Grey Whistle Test" ...so naturally it did not run long. Lorne Michaels and the other English fella went on to do their own things. Artists, Leonard to Sonny, used it to test out their new material.

Hmmmmmmmmm Poguey, bit of a night crawler chant there...
I think Debbie was tired ... Or had an oul chaw on the ayahuasca leaves ... I'll have another listen and return with a final verdict... Debbie herself of course, immaculately beautiful as always .... |

Maybe, as you say, it was a test run for new music or a new sound anyway for Debbie ...

Interesting track there Pogue.
That backing music is not easy to sing along to.😏 |

Considering it is an 80s show Pat I'm guessing the sound never quite worked out for Blondie.
I was not a big fan of 80s music but a few artists stand out...if only for a song or two. correction: I guess Natalie was 90's and not 80s? .

Frank, can't say I remember that one.
We didn't get a telly till 1965 and then only RTE1. Remember lots more westerns in the 60's though. |

I looked at a bit of that Tombstone Territory but doesn't ring any bells. Reminds me of Bat Masterson but that's about it ...

That's cool Frank, I read about half the wiki entry, will finish it later. You'd still need a bit if ingenuity to put together those crystal sets. Your mates were on a higher plane than mine obviously - while you guys were making radio sets, we were racing matchsticks along the gutter in the rain lol 😂

Two great posts there Pogue.
Brings me back to gentler times. The milkman was so vital to communities back then. Milk on your doorstep every morning. Creative methods to stop the birds packing through the tops of the bottles. Real bottles before cartons came in. Went out on the rounds with our local milkman once. Never realised how widespread his network was, Celtic Park all the out to Coolock Villages. Great fun but boy did I learn how hard these milkman work. Our legendary Grover Derek was also a milkman. |

Derek was our pioneer milkman. He paved the way for the rest of us and most likely it was through his influence that we got our helper jobs. Crazy days...I can't imagine today that you could send a child into a stable by himself to harness up a monster dray horse, then back him and the cart into the dock before the main man arrives. I think Derek stuck it out and made a decent career out of it.
I remember Derek buying Sgt. Peppers with his first week's wages. hah! not really ...it might have been his second week's wages ... hmmmmm what year was that?... ' 67 I think
