Tom Waits, I didn't get for years, but a friend recommended that I buy "The Heart of Saturday Night" and I do kinda get the hype now.  That said, I haven't rushed out to buy his other albums yet.

Tom has more bad songs than good but his good ones more than make up for the bad - being married to an Irish poet he hangs out in Dublin a bit. He said in one interview that he loves Dublin because he's free to walk the streets without people bothering him. He says the Irish are just laid back and not impressed by celebrity... personally I think it's because he looks like a knacker and most of the younger kids wouldn't regognise him anywaySmile

Saw Duran Duran at EP a few years ago. Good performance but I just got this impression they were phoning it in a bit. Maybe it was just me...

Sinead O'Brien supported Duran Duran in St. Annes last sunday. Pretty good I would say. I also saw her on Jools Holland a few weeks ago. The other support was Goldfrapp!

There's a newish girl singer coming up- Sinead O'brien, has a small band. From Limerick, living in London I think. I've heard some of her stuff and really liked it, worth checking out.

I wasted a lot of time listening to them dudes, Dylan included..there are probably four or five tunes between them I can listen to today.

What did the Tom Waits fan say when his drugs wore off?
Ans: This music really sucks.

May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

The Clash were another band I couldn't get into.

Have a compilation CD of theirs but wouldn't be rocked by all the trax. Some good stuff alright but not enough to wow me.

The Sex Pistols yes....

"Never Mind The Bollocks" was an incredible album.

Leonard Cohen was an artist I never really got into.

Some of his earlier songs that were played in the Grove were good.

And Tom Waits was another artist I didn't get at all.

Am not saying these were poor artists. They are both critically acclaimed but just didn't tick my boxes.

I love that song Pogue.

In the charts in 1967.

The chorus is brilliant.

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, get off your back
Come into town, don't let them down, oh no, no

I asked Cecil to play this once during a slow set  and he had a bouncer take me outside, beat me and confiscate my membership card.
