Hi, could someone please let the rest of us know what was said on the Ray D'Arcy Show and who said it. I'm only catching bits and pieces of it and would like to get the whole story. Please feel free to post your own comments regarding what was said, and then we'll send Mr. D'Arcy's show a link to this topic.

Thanks.

Hello, This morning in the car while listening to Mr D I appalled to hear him call the docu "typical RTE selfindulgent crap" got out of the car about 10.15am for meeting nothing to tell after that. Did send text to show(venting a little annoyance)

I am so disgusted to hear this!

for a few years now I have listened to the Ray Darcy Show and always thought he was dead on and funny.

Now I am sickened to think he would say such a thing about the documentary. I feel very sorry for him too because he obviously was unfortunate enough to grow up without something special that he could be proud of and say "Yeah, I was involved in that".

I don't think he should say anymore about RTE CRAP either, afterall, they are keeping a roof over his head (and what hair is left on it).

The Irish are begrudgers and it is typical that when RTE get it RIGHT for ONCE... there is nothing but bad feelings about it, I reckon it's just jealousy.

I for one was very proud of it and Crusty, Cecil, Joe and all who were involved should be too. Well done lads.

I wouldn't get too upset I'm surprised he only called it "crap" you have to remember he has a talk show so he needs to stir up crap to get people calling in .I mean you're not going to listen to him for the music are you  ?... I think they should give his slot to Cecil

I thought the documentary was fantastic. I'm a video editor here in Spain for a local Tv station  and have spend the last few years watching nothing but documentaries downloaded off the web (Spanish tv is sh*te) . Most of them about Iraq "war on terror" etc etc . It seemed weird to watch a documentary about a place I knew and had such fond memories of really brought me back, since I’ve seen it I’ve loaded every grove song I can remember into my ipod and walk around air guitaring the solo from stairway to heaven etc at work (try explaining "The Grov" to the Spanish ….waste of time)

It captured the spirit of the place if you ask me . So I think that even if you never went to The Grove you got  a feel of what the place was like .. The sign of a well made documentary in my books.

Darcy just needs a show and without saying something stupid he hasn’t got one.

Yeah..storm in a tea-cup type thing I think. I mean..are we seriously bothered about a critical comment from the guy who got excited over the McCauls here??

Actually..I think we should send him a ticket to the Halloween Re-union just for the hell of it..hehehe!!

Hayseed Dixiev

you could dig out a few of the heads who used to hang outside (because they couldn't get in ) to give him a good kicking . A truly authentic Grove night out ..

Any one here ever get a good kicking on the way home from the Grove , happened to me once ...nothing too serious but my brother got 5 types of S&%te kicked out of him once he went in the 90's I was around in 86 ,87, 88. Never marred the memories though all part of the excitement I guess .

That would be so funny to send him a ticket and invite him as a special guest!

Yeah, hubby got a kickin' one night apparently, no too bad though, but I think he lost a tooth!

if you're refering to the Grove documentary i'd be supprised if it isn't released for sale on dvd  ,I mean who wouldn't want one in their Christmas stocking ...or were you hoping for another pair of socks......sh*te this getting old thing really blows you know you're old when they give you socks and you know you're really old when you're glad to get them.

Hugo I'd love to download some of the documentaries on Irac love that type of thing also and sometimes we are blind sided here in the States - only seeing what they want to show us!  Oh did I just say that....

You job sounds like a lot of fun.

Yeah I think they are bringing the doc out on DVD - Crusty mentioned that to me before.

From a chat I had with someone in the know, it won't be going on sale. With all the music that was used, copy clearance would push the costs.  RTE don't want to take a risk loosing money.

Which is a shame.  I think there's potential here for a nice little earner.

The only way you'd get me to go to school on Saturdays.
