Don't think this has been done (has it?) What was the first record you bought...what was it (single or album)...where did you buy it and why? I'll start the embarrassment... First single was Monkees Daydream Believer form one of Chanel's school fairs... Frist album was U2 Under a Blood Red Sky First 12" single was Radio GaGA. Why? I liked them! |

First LP I bought was a Disney compilation...I must have been 11 or something.
There was this TINY shop in Kilbarrack Shopping Centre ( yes that dismal place ) and I bought it there. Then it must have been a Big Country thing or a Howard Jones. I have an excuse..I have 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters so the place was laden with everything already..AC/DC, Genesis, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Santana, Supertramp, ELO and on and on. All my other purchases after that would have been Marillion and U2 mainly. I did buy a few singles though that stick out in my mind... Romeo and Juliet...Dire Straits. ( Wow, I love that song ). Brass in Pocket.....Pretenders. ME ( Home Alone and Husbandless for the next 90 days ).
PS. Should throw a party maybe

I stole my first record from Dolphin Discs-Sunshine Superman by Donovan.
They used to have them stacked on shelves back then. My first Album to steal was "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" By Simon & Barfuncle (nah --I bought that one) |

Big Horslips fan,Finno-you know most of the back catalogue was re-mastered and re-packaged? The Return of the Dancehall Sweethearts is one hell of a view-double DVD- disc 1 is a two hour long documentory including all band members (with a startling revelation that CdeB was once a contender for guitarist...ugh!) and disc 2 is packed with 'videos' and live appearances. Brilliance at its brilliance. Edited by Floydman |

Could've been worse June, if you'd been a bit older you might've bought something by Lena Zavaroni, a previous Hughie Green winner. Now that would be a disaster. |

First single "Some Girls Will, Some Girls Won't" by Racey (cringes)
First LP "Outlandos d'Amor" by the Police (little bit of street cred regained) Remember the trek into town on Saturday to buy a 7" single or two, them were the days ... few pints in Bruxelles (best jukebox in town) to get the Grove buzz going, then home to get ready for the night ahead ... magic. |
