Big Self were a Northern Irish band and they were on the bill -way down mind you - with U2 / Simple Minds / Eurythmics / Steel Pulse etc in Phoenix Park August '83 (? I think).  The song had a line in it about "the sun, the sun on the roof again". Was a little gem of a tune and Cecil favoured it for about a year.

Forever Young was a great call too and what about Cyndi Lauper "Time after Time"?  A real smoocher.

By the way is it a dream or did he once play "Hello" by Lionel Richie and then at the end take it off the record player and smash it in half? Someone please tell me this happened! In my memory the crowd went ballistic.

I could have played for Ireland (if it wasn't for the booze and the birds)

Mel,

Wouldn't even pretend to comment on that list, it looks definitive to me! Congrats on getting there - I know that any time I mentioned it to you, your eyes lit up as you described the excitment of the project.

So - what's next? Maybe rebuild ancient rome in your back garden? Solve the riddle of alchemy? Or maybe just listen to them all in one sitting?

don't want you getting bored now!

I'm searching for that cash I should have saved for the crash

Haha, good one Gary - as I said to Stardust on the other thread - If I knew how to digitally record.....!!??

Next up Finno and Darach, I reckon I will be replacing the plain single sleeves in there with pic sleeves as and when I can get them....no mad rush though, exhausted from collecting the list as it is!

This list is magnetic, keep coming back to it.

Here's another one ... Dear Prudence by Siouxsie & The Banshees

Surprised some of the Goths didn't shout that one out

Too busy on those rollercoasters (have you seen the ad on telly?)

Thanks Fester,

Hmm, may have to draw up a "list after the list" but keep 'em coming.

And Iggy Pop "PASSENGER" or were they called Creature... Siouxie seems to have done a few cover version maybe she was the influence for Boyzone and Westlife career survive in the charts on other people music....

Can't wait for our resident Goths to come back and defend this

Do you mean 'resident' goths or resistant, P?

Yes, Siouxsie and The Banshees did cover The Passenger. They also covered "This Wheel's on Fire" around the same time. But as the Banshees. The Creatures was Siouxsie and Budgie's side project.

Jen (resident resistant goth!)

Nope. Sorry Rolo, the former Banshee is very much alive and well. Only thing that's dead is the band itself and Siouxsie's marriage to Budgie. She's no gone solo...in more ways than one!

No need to apologise at all Jen, 'twas John McGeogh I was thinking of.

Magazine would be one of my faves and knew that he went on to the Banshees after Devoto went off on his own.
