Wow, wasn't expecting that.
Wonderful manager who has achieved so much in the game and created history with the DUBS. Hope his legacy will carry on by whoever takes over and the DUBS remain at the top. |

Back in my day the Dub wins were few and far between, only two that I can remember and, by sheer chance, I was at both. The two wins were against Galway: 1963 with Mickey Whelan and Des and Lar Foley starring. I got lifted over the stiles by some old geezer so got in free, but spent the game squashed against a gate under the stands, viewing about 10' of the pitch. John Timmons visited St.Ciarans with the Sam McGuire after the win so we all got to touch it and get his autograph. There was so much excitement in Dublin that the entire team became politicians β nearly :) The second was 1974
βHEFFOβS ARMYβ, the year before I left Ireland. I was a bit heavier then so had to pay into that one, nobody could lift me over the stiles. We started
drinking in the Horse & Hound early, moved to the North Strand before the
game to be close to Croker, a few pints in Fairview when the game ended then home to pick up the missus and back to
the Horse & Hound after dinner. I retraced the sessions and downed 23 pints that
day, breaking my long-standing record of being flat on my back after 4 pints.

I see "culchie" commentators making a point that Cluxton and Gavin should call it a day.
I totally disagree. Begrudging so so's. Let's make 'em sick with six. πππ |

Yes it was a super game Pat, victory well deserved by the Dubs.
Kerry will come again, no doubt, but today is all about the Dubs. Well done, made us all proud ... |

Didn't see it, I was at the EP, but I get the impression it was a great game - for the neutrals!
I hesitate to make predictions in these matters, I don't really know enough about the ins and outs, but my feeling will be that Kerry might feel they let a good chance go; Dublin will obviously be relieved they have another shot at it. I'd be inclined to think the replay will favour the DUBS but I guess it's not over till it's over ... |

I don't know about you but the match I watched had Dublin always in control and they should have won .

Its hard to know Pat. I think Kerrys game plan was to come strong in the second half and they were very physical which caught Dublin off guard a bit abd they struggled as a result. It would have been close I would say. Credit to Kerry, they were a better team than alot of folks were saying beforehand. Still all to play for.

Agree Brian.
Had forgotten Cooper sent off. Makes the draw all the more worthy for Dublin. If Dublin had 15 would they have won or are Kerry a very serious threat? |

Dubs got out of jail in my view. Sending off was key and Kerry had momentum. Dublin did well to live to fight another day. Replay in 2 weeks.

Dublin 1-16 Kerry 1-16.
Great game by all accounts. I listened to it on the phone. Sounded amazing. Replay should be interesting. Have Kerry missed their chance? Have Dublin learned from the game? Up THE DUBS πππ |
