I see a film version of Wuthering Heights is going to be made.

No one has been cast yet.

I loved that novel...

Just wondering who would be your choice for Cathy and Heathcliff.

Preferable NOT Keira Knightley for Cathy.

 Theater Been thinking about this one - How about Natalie Portman for cathy ? and maybe Christian bale for Heathcliff ?   or Kate Bosworth and Edward Norton ?

loved him in sweeny todd but i must say his singing kinda reminded me of Bowie i had to say that to my hubby when i wanted to watch it cause he said he wasnt watching Depp sing...lol hubby major Bowie fan

Oh yes....Johnny Depp as Heathcliffe. Failing that, Orlando Bloom. *swoons quietly in a corner*

I like Keira Knightley but she's getting typecast in these kind of films. I'd like to see someone else getting a shot in the role. NOT Kate Bosworth. She can't act for peanuts!

I think Colin Firth would make a very handsome Heathcliffe, but I think he would be handsome in (or out) of anything.

Just dont know absolutely love the book one of my all time favs along with P and P.Not sure who could do it justice.

Maybe Daniel day Lewis for Heathcliffe and Cate Blanchett know they are both prob too old but think they would really  be good

Great minds think alike Blondie.

I would go for DDay Lewis also..he could play the wild and romantic role very well.

As for Cathy, most of the above suggested females are too skinny for me. I always visualise Cathy as being more buxom, more curvy, more " Lorna Doone" maybe..untamed..not sure who can pull it off 100%.

Cate Blanchett can do almost anything she puts her mind to so she is a good choice.

Maybe Catherine McCormack, the one who played Muireann in Braveheart. I see someone like her, good features and full body. Not many around.

Hard to pick for sure...

Johnny Depp would be good also. He has the right hair, the right darkness to his nature and screen presence.

Anyhow..time will tell......

I won't be frequenting this thread again, but just to say it takes all sorts. Along with pride and prejudice it is my least favourite book ever. Not one good thing to say about it.

My missus thinks they're two of the all time greats.

I'll offer to mind the kids while she heads off to see the film with someone else.

They're you go, I'll drag my uncultured butt back to the football thread.....

Fair play to you - each to their own  - I guess it's a woman thing but P & P and Sense and Sensiblity have to be two of the best books ever written along with Jane Eyre, W.H , Mansfield Hall, Emma etc.,

The Bronte's and Jane Austen have written some of the best books in the english language but like you my other half would no more read one of them and thinks i am off my head because I read them over and over.
