Electric Light Orchestra

Hiya everyone,

I dont recall ELO being played in the Grove when I went there (but I do remember them playing 'Turn to Stone' at the old Pauls 4th year Socials) but for some reason they always remind me of my Grove days - maybe its just that they were in the charts in the late 70s, early 80s, as I started going to the Grove, but there is just something about ELO that I've always loved).  Pat, you've mentioned "A New World Record" (fab album) in the past.  Any other ELO fans out there??

I always loved ELO. Great musicians, great songs,all those wonderful harmonies and dodgy perms.

By the way, I`ll be wearing mine behind the drums tomorrow night. Looking forward to that.

Sorry, but it would be a bit difficult to play drums with my legs closed.

I'm sure T has a pair for every occasion.

As for ELO  "Mr Blue Sky" was one of their great songs that I remember. I have an album/LP at home somewhere. I must dig out and give it a spin.

10538 Overture was deffo played in the Grove as was Ma Ma Ma Belle.

New World Record is the only LP I have by ELO and I think it's a classic.

Ah, cheers lads, am glad to hear that Cecil played 'em - just couldnt remember.  My personal faves are Turn to Stone, Mr Blue Sky, Sweet talkin' woman and Wild West hero (Pat, I think we discussed this before on some other thread but I agree with you that "A New World Record" is the business but I also think that "Out of this World" (their double album) is also well worth checking out.

Must check that out Pat - actually havent put on an ELO album for a bit (just a few of the singles).  Have a copy of the "Electric Light Orchestra" (with the lightbulb on the cover) from 1971 - not really what I was expecting (having already picked up A New World Record and Out of the Blue in the early 1980s - different, but not bad).
