Not a quote exactly, just an explanation of a word that gets thrown round increasingly these days: algorithm. I would always reckon I had a "good idea" of what it meant, but would be hard-pressed to explain it clearly! Anyway, for what it's worth: "An algorithm is a set of simple steps that lead to the solution of a problem". The word is taken from the name of a 9th century Persian mathematician and polymath: al-Khwarizmi.
So, now yis know
