Bah Humbug!
It's that time of year when the already stressful activity of Christmas shopping is exacerbated by the all pervading Christmas Muzak that greets you as you toil from shop to shop and on the radio as you wind interminably around multi storey car parks trying to find a space only to spot some muppet taking up 2. Mine has to be Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas", a song that's 3 times longer than it should be because she insists in extending every vowel for 5 seconds. "All I want" Mariah is you, a quiet room and a surgeon to remove your vocal chords. A close second to that is Daddy please don't get drunk this christmas,by John Denver |

Good thread Gerry. "Little Drummer Boy" by Bowie and Bing Crosby. The traditional "Twelve days of Christmas" annoys me although I'm kinda fed up with the Frank Kelly version as well.

What irritates me about xmas songs is not so much the songs themselves (although there are many a turkey, no pun intend). Its that you hear the music weeks/months in advance everywhere you go. Its overplayed and oversaturated and thats the real issue in my view. Having said that, there are some good ones.

Was talking to a lady who works in the local Centra and she's driven mad with the constant playing of Christmas songs, day after day.

Downloaded a cd by Paul Redmond who used to sing in the Raheny Folk Group. He now has a Christmas CD so now on Christmas morning I can listen to "Oh Holy Night" and feel like I am in Raheny Church with my family...

We went to the States a few years back for Christmas and that stupid song Feliz Navidad drove me round the bend...every where we went it was blasting out
