Thanks to all who made Saturday such a fun night.
Being January and all that, I think we did pretty well! This was the last Official Grove Tribute Night for the next couple of months, watch this site for updates. Possibly one around Easter time in Raheny again. I know there's a charity Grove Reunion Night in the Clontarf Rugby Club on Saturday February 12th. So for those of you requiring a monthly fix, head on down, I'm sure it's gonna be a great night. Also, I keep bumping into people with great stories from The Grove, like Helen, who I met on Saturday night, for example. Please, log-on to the site and tell the rest of the X-Grove Goers. We need you to share your stories, otherwise this site will die on it's arse. Or please email us any old photos from the Grove that you may have come across over the years. Send them to info@thegrovesocialclub.com. Thanks. P.S. We should have some photos from the 27th & last Saturdays Grove Tribute up on the site before the week's out! Edited by crusty |

As the 'Grove' was refrequented by those living in the Dublin 3,5 & 13 areas, would it not be a better idea to keep the 'Tribute Nights' at the Sheiling Hotel and hold them quarterly ( 4 times per year). On the turn out seen on the 27th, I believe that this would retain the special ambiance that was 'The Grove'.

We've been considering that Ed, especially after the
success of the 27th. Alot of people are asking when the next one is going to happen. There's one on the 15th in the Temple Bar Music Centre which had been booked previous to the 27th. This obviously won't have the same atmosphere as the one in The Sheiling but it'll be a good night all the same. But I tend to agree that sometimes less is more. I think four or five a year would make it a little more special than, say, one a month. Leave it with us. What do the rest of you think? We'd love to hear your thoughts... Thanks again Ed for raising this valid point. |

Have to agree with Ed. Definately feel they should be kept in the original area of the Grove. Keeps the feel of it plus we can always go to the chipper in Raheny Village afterwards for curry chips!!

Saturday night was the last Grove night for the next
couple of months. There's none planned as of yet. If circumstances allow, maybe a Easter Special out in The Shieling. Kepp your eye on the sight for updates! As for The Venue Formerly Known As Isaacs this is scheduled for a March/April opening, under new managment ,so I'm not sure what their entertainment policies will be. Again, watch this space. |

Isaac Butt's was definitely THE place to have The Grove. At least you could always get a taxi outside. The Sheiling is great too but it takes a lot longer for the crowd to get going. Maybe special nights such as Valentines for Singles / Paddy's Night / Easter / June Bank Holiday / Halloween and Christmas could be in the Sheiling and then every other month in town? I've gone 3 times but would love to go more often. |

Well Jennimcc, I liked Isaac's too, when the
renovations are finished we're considering going back there. It'll be under new management so their entertainment policies will be the deciding factor on whether we want to bring it back to there or not. I can confirm that the new venue being built is shaping up nicely and should extend the capacity to another 400 punters, providing a more comfort environment during those busy nights. But as for the "specials", we're going with the Shieling for the time being. And as for the crowd taking longer to get going, I agree, but it's all down to you guys. You can bring a horse to water... Not that I'm saying that there were any horses at the Shieling last time
