Back on the movie trail tonight.

We just watched "Festival of Troubadours".

An enchanting and emotional film that pulls at the heartstrings. Had Marjie crying.

Set in Turkey about a father who turns up on his sons doorstep after 25 years. There begins a long journey to a town called Kars in North Eastern Turkey where The Festival of Troubadours takes place.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Just watched "Laal Singh Chaddha".

The India version of "Forrest Gump".

It's brilliant and I think even better than the original version.

Tonight's movie.

"All Quiet On The Western Front".

Brutal 3 hour movie about trench warfare during WW1 from a German perspective.

Brilliantly made with very true war scenes.

Might see can I get it over here Pat.
Spent at least an hour the other night trawling through Netflix, Sky Cinema, etc etc, trying different films and series. Nothing held my attention for more than 10 minutes, everything seemed to be an inferior copy of things I've already seen!
Maybe I'm spoiled by choice!!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tonight's movie "Alive".

The film depicts a true story of a Uruguayan rugby team, who together with friends and family were crossing the Andes Mountains to play a game with neighboring Chile when their plane crashed, leaving them stranded.

I REMEBER THIS FROM 1972.
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

I remember that plane crash. The search party came across a man sitting in the middle of a circle of bones, he had eaten his fellow passengers. Horrified, they asked how he could do such a thing. The man was quoted as saying -โ€œBefore you pass judgement on me, please consider my situation. It is a natural instinct to do everything in your power to survive. I decided not to starve, but to live to tell my story and be judged by my god when my time comes. It was either me or themโ€.

โ€ฆto which the search party leader replied โ€“โ€œBut the plane only went down two hours agoโ€

From Wikipedia

During the following 72 days, the survivors suffered extreme hardships, including exposure, starvation, and an avalanche, which led to the deaths of thirteen more passengers. The remaining passengers resorted to
cannibalism. As the weather improved with the arrival of late spring, two survivors, Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa, climbed a 4,650-metre (15,260 ft) mountain peak without gear and hiked for 10 days into Chile to seek help, traveling 61 km (38 miles). On 23 December 1972, two months after the crash, the last of the 16 survivors were rescued. The news of their miraculous survival drew world-wide headlines that grew into a media circus.

I remember all this in late 1972. After watching the movie and re reading the facts there was little option for the survivors other that to cannabilise their dead co passengers.

Gruesome as it sounds, what were their options after the search was allegedly called off.
