I have also added a link up at the top.
ChatChat
What I have found with chatrooms though is that on relatively quiet sites, people need to set times to chat as otherwise it quickly gets disused.

Hey Sharon,

You think the Chat room is better than this crack ?

It's just that part of the fun is being able to read back a few days when you miss something. The other thing is we're all so busy trying to keep up with the Forum and with work that chances are we've no time for anything else.

Anyway, St.Mary's '84 ?

Rolo.

No I'm sure this reading of messages can be more fun but it seems to be just the few who chat together and I just thought maybe if there was a room for general chit chat others may join in the ones like me with so few postings.

Must say i do peek at the forums and read what ppl post but sometimes i feel I'm looking at something i shouldnt when its just a few of ye chatting as such and ye all seem to know each other

Yes left St Marys in 1984

Sharon it was a great thought, it's just that most of us are working while also on here!!!! bad I know... truth is we probably should not be here at all during the day.

Your always welcome to just jump in and give your few pennys worth, we all feel the same.  "The more the merrier"!

We need a fresh face around!Smile

Hey Sharon,

You'd never believe it from reading the posts that 'twas only Kay and Eejit that knew each other before getting on here. The rest of us are just nuts.

For me,the best bit is actually trying to locate people I knew years ago and today I had some success as you might have read.( Two good mates from the Grove who ended up marrying each other and moving to Australia have just got on board by fluke.)

My wife also left Mary's in '84 hence the question.

So if you're up for some " do you know so and so.....etc. " join in any time 'cos as Eejit will tell you I'm a divil for it.

Rolo.

Hey Sharon,

Betcha we'd know each other to see, 'specially if you're from Beaumont. My parents' house is at top of Ardlea Road / Kilmore Rd. junction.

D'ya still see your old mates, often wondered what happened to Deborah Gorman, Adrienne's sister. I Remember she went out with one of my school mates for a while, not sure when though.

Where you now anyway ?

Rolo.

Hi Sharon,

I was a St. Mary's girl too...Sandra, Adrienne Ward's sister was in my class, also knew Louise (younger sister), Sharon Harford's sister Anna was in my year and I knew and worked with Margaret Leonard who I think was a sister of Aideen!

This site just gets funnier-we're all inter-connected in some way

Sharon, Catherine says I should know you, but just can't match a face to the name..........sorry.

Mollykate,

This is getting ridiculous.

That's brilliant. I was in school with Emo. Get Adrienne to pass on my regards to him as well if you can.

Do you know where he's living now ?

Oh yeah, does John still keep in contact with Robbie ? Russell, was asking.

Later.

Hiya folks,

For anyone who uses (or used to use) the "Chat" option at the top of the screen.

As far as I can tell, the room doesnt like the "Google Chrome" web browser - I tried to use it last night and it just kept repeating "Brunswick has joined the Chat" over and over and when I typed stuff in the "send" box, the text didnt appear at all in the chat window.

It does however seem to work fine with Firefox and I don't recall having problems using the chat when I used 'regular' Google to access it either.

Another thing I *think* that the chat dislikes is usernames with spaces or funny characters like ! or &.  You dont have to use the same username as you use on the main site in the chatroom and you can even use just a single letter as a username, if you want.

Anyway, I know its not one of the more regularly used bits of the site (to put it mildly) but I think it's worth resurrecting.  I thought we used to have great craic on it altogether.

Cheers,

Bruns.

I did indeed.  It hasnt been used in fairness for quite some time.  It's good craic though, especially when we get a bunch of people on it.  There's a post way back in this thread (from KB I think?) that, in his experience, unless a "time of day" is picked for chatting, it tends to get disused.  For what its worth, 10pm onwards or so suits me best, as things are nice and quiet around the house.

Edit: Yep, it was KB.  This is the post I was referring to.

Will call a meeting of the Deputies to see who zapped your first reincarnation and dole out the appropriate sanction .

Gerry,

Your username isnt zapped - if you click on the "Memberlist" above and scroll down the member list, you'll see Dondon (registered 22 February 2010) with 1039 posts.  Not at all sure why you can't do anything on the forum with it though.

Mel.
