my fondest memory of the Grove is bringing down an album and hounding Cecil to play it and also the change in styles that went with the times S.L.F.,LYNYRD SKINYRD,THE DOORS B-52S,KRAFTWERKAND ON AND ON

Hi Christy and welcome aboard hang around it's a good site with loads of good memories and laughs....One of my fondest memories is going down to the grove early just to hear who's album that Cecil was going to play and trying to guess who brought it down....and yeah the change in styles in music....we grew with the years...or did the years grow with us ? ------------- You are what you wanna be....age doesn't matter |

Before I went to the Grove all I use to listen to was U2 and U2 and little bit of U2. Remembered my bro going and listening to a few his albums.. Rainbow, Deep Purple, Zeppelin and then I went to the Grove and I got to learn so many new songs and artist. But the thing I knew some of these songs from U2 live performance were they would sing other peoples songs. I remember I once took Rainbow double album doen to the Grove for Cecil it wasn't mine it was my brothers. The fist record was Ronnie James Dio songs and the second record was a mix of Rainbow later stuff with Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner. My brother never knew until a few weeks ago I told him. i used to love and hate the trash hour - loved it cos ye could bring down some good music (like suicidal tendencies) hated it cos it was on so early and i very rarely made it!! LOL ------------- work. the curse of the drinking classes!

for me the essence of the grove... and I was a later visitor - in the 90's (long before "club G" thank goodness) 200 kids in lines dancing to new order - blue monday - that blue monday dance that no-one else in the country seems to know about but you can spot a grove person from across a crowded nightclub from the first dush dush dush dush... after moving from dublin i tried in vain to get it going in some of the local indie clubs - but people just didn't get it. that and moshing... and moshing while wearing a dress up to 'there' with docs that didn't stop short of it! good times. xk |

I liked the song (the 12" version was/is the biz) but its on a TV ad now (cant remember what for) so I'll probably grow tired of it soon... ------------- TPFKAB (The Poster Formerly Known As Brunswick). |

The B-side to the 12" was an alternative intrumental of Blue Monday called the beach. Better I think but only maybe because we're all too familiar with the A-side. ------------- There are three kinds of people in the world,those who are able to count,and those who can't... |
