Oh what a night?!!! The best yet! A huge thanks to all
who attended. It was fantastic. What makes a good
night / what makes a bad night? (As the Queens Of
The Stone Age once said) No One Knows. But
tonight topped the lot. Everybody was on such a high
it was great.
It was a little slow at the start (as all these things
are) but we came, we saw, we conquered! It was a
gem of a night. And apparantly we got some great
footage on film for the documentary. Thanks to all
concerned. Thanks for the stories and anecdotes,
i'm sure it's gonna make for interesting viewing. If
anyone feels like they've material to contribute to the
documentary, please email us.
And again, there's a couple of people who I'd like to
thank while I've the opportunity. Laura Byrne of The
Irish Times. a hard-core Grovie if ever there was one.
As I said earlier, she's responsible for keeping all
you Irish Times readers in the know (among many
other mediums - The Dubliner Magazine etc....)
Thanks again Laura.
Killian Bannon for the website. If it wasn't for him
you wouldn't be reading this text...
And our camera crew tonight. Dan O'Hara for the
top interviews, a friend and maestro. John for all the
live footage - a true soldier. And Joe McElwaine for
tying it all together and filling in the blanks. Not
forgetting Paul Colbert, my brother, for suggesting
that I actually pay tribute to The Grove (without those
words of advice, this whole thing may never have
happened!!!)
Cecil for giving a sh*t in the first place. I mean,
without Cecil, where would we be??? HE IS THE
GROVE!!! For one man to have such an influence on
this many people...& more..., much more... It's very
special. very, very special. THANK YOU FOR THE
MUSIC!
Marty Whelan, that was a huge surprise. An
Ex-Grovie and a LEGEND!!!
Thanks Marty for spreading the word... What a buzz,
all around?! THE JEAN GENIE!
I think I'm speaking for all when I say Oh What A
Night!?! AND WE ALL MADE IT HAPPEN AND WE
ALL MADE IT SPECIAL...

See y'all on the 30th of October for the fancy dress

Thanks again and love to y'all

Crusty.

P.S. The photos from the night will be up on the site
asap so keep an eye on the gallery.

Were there many there from the 70's? I will try to get back to Ireland in October for the next one. Where is it going to be?

Yeah, loads of people were there from that era. Alot
of couples who met at The Grove and have since got
married. It was great, we had people there spanning
the three decades, even people there who were
attended it when it was held in the Belgrove Football
Club. The next one will be in The Shieling Hotel
(same as last night). It'll be fancy dress "Come As
You Were" dressed in the kind of clothes you used to
sport back at the original Grove!
We'll hopefully see you there.

Hi there Crusty,

I think I got the wrong person when I sent you that private message. I thought you were Andy who was DJing on the reunion night (thought Crusty was his nickname) so if I'm wrong I apologise. That would account for you not replying to my message. I do remember you from when I was hanging around with Adrian Scally though and you had a band going . Let me know if I had the wrong person.

Sinead.
