It looks as if a few of us NCD's cant make the 17th which is a pity as im sure its going to be a great nite out. However, just leafing through my diary for dates that im available (yeah right!!!!) - In fairness to give everyone time how would Saturday 10th March in O'Sheas or Friday 9th March (preferably Saturday as would be tied for time on the Friday !!!!). The NCD's that I can think of are Sharon, Brunswick, Floydman, Smithy, Esthalon, Me, Len3Fingers and Ger, Dont know where you live Rolo but would love if you could make it ! It would be nice if we could meet up before the big 40th in April. Anyways lets know. And Mins if you can make it on the 17th, what with Hubbie away could you wangle the one in March and get your sis to babysit !!

Have been trying O'Sheas to see what bands are on 9th March - cant get through ! Will keep trying and when I find out what bands on will let you know and you can give verdicts on whether they are too POP or whatever. Great Escape never heard them but itd be great if they were on as alot of the NCD seem to like them !!

Dropped into O'shea's earlier to find out who was playing on the 9th-the chap didn't know but said someone would be in later who could tell me and to ring then. I did but no-one answered the phone.
It'll be either Finch or The Great Escape-or even if there's no band what the hell-we'll make enough noise.
Will try them again tomorrow.

Hey BBabe..
the 9th is a NO for me as I have to fly on that day and the flight would not get in til after 21:00...
What time does the gig kick off..not sure whether I would get off a plane and get away with dumping kids and doing a runner ?????..
Thought it would be a Saturday....

BBabe,
Living in Donabate we don't need a visa for the 9th. I think Lerato and I can make it. Where is O'Shea's? Won't be drinking but will enjoy the craic. Then we have the charity do in the Sheiling on 10th for Maebh. Sound like a busy week-end.

Lads if Mins is home late the 9th, would it be major inconvenient to change it to the Saturday as it would be great to have Mins there???? If not we will organise something for when she is home. And also, if we do meet up the 9th, the few of us that were there in the Nep can cough up a few bob for Meabh.......Being Childrens Allowance week and all that we will have a few extra quid in our pockets !!!!!

Hey....
Donīt go changing anything on my account..a few creatures have already got their sitters sussed.
I am DEFO around April 26 - May 03 so even if we cannot get to the Nep ( might be way TOO soon after the 40th bash )..I sure as hell can get up your direction so just go with your original plans BB and if it happens for me it happens...
Donīt change anything darlin BUT I appreciate your consideration and all the rest...I do,I do, I do....

Muller-O'Shea's is easy enough to find. It's on the harbour, behind the railway viaduct.Easiest way...through Balbriggan town, turn right at the Golden Emporer or De Bruin's pub. Straight down.

Ah are you getting too old for the loud music....lol
kidding
Maybe we should meet up in another pub b4 heading down to O'Sheas
Thats what I normally do anyway, The Harvest up the top end of the town is quiet enough on a Friday/Saturday night well it plays music but atleast you can have a conversation thats in the bar jeez ye can even play a round of pool if ye want...or you can go into the lounge where its really quiet
I need to know whether its the Friday or Saturday night so i can arrange a sitter Ild prefer to bring the Hubby with me but if I've no sitter I'll head down on my own

Advice always gratefully received, but I will be unlikely to have my version of heaven....
Flanagans on Matthews St is worth a visit because in many ways it's awful, but somehow the whole think comes together for me - not a place to stay all night, but a swift beer or two gives me a kick. O Neills ok, but typical irish pub. Last time, we spent many happy hours in random locals - weird and wonderful. It's the scouse humour that makes it so brilliant....
The lads going with me will dictate as ever that we go to the biggest noisiest superpub, with about four floors, (bad) music pumping (very loudly), (overweight) people dressed in tea towels and thongs, mayhem and slop at the bar (not a real ale or pint of stout to be seen). I will start to lose the will to live early in the evening, but will enjoy the crack during the day enough to make up for it. That's what the key for me is - get out early, have a good sup, bite to eat and a few hours kip before enduring the late night hell!
We have a tour of Anfield lined up for Saturday as well which I'm looking forward to - watching the man utd fans being as ignorant as possible, but being silenced by the trophy room!
If I try to persuade anyone I will be overruled - as I was told in Kilkenny (another town full of great pubs!) at a previous stag - "we are ignoring you. You're a disaster. you bring us places where there's no mots and no music, full of auld fellas watching the horses. You look for places with a good pint. F*ck that - we're here for a good time".
So, unfortunately Rolo the advice would be likely to fall on deaf ears.
But, I'll manfully carry on and have a bit of fun somewhere!

Ger and Len may be able to get down - they have a doo on in March but not sure of dates yet. So wheres it to be lads The Harvest or O'Sheas ??????? Nice one 'Snapper, actually sampled both O'Neill's and The Apple at the weekend. Tell your mates to head for the Grab a Granny night at The Grafton.
You'll get a good pint in Cooper's down by St John's or head for Constance Square which is always lively. We went down The Albert Dock too and found The Blue Bar to be rather trendy, with a nightclub in the basement that mets all the criteria required to satisfy your mates.( Needless to say we didn't stay long.)
Then ya gotta round the night off in the Residents' Bar at the Adelphi where anything goes.
Must say, love a night out in Liverpool.

Rolo,
That's a fair list of establishments!!!! Sounds like a class few days. I'm sensing why you're mad keen to give up the gargle for a while
If you do feel the thirst coming on, you can always try the following "jesuitical" analysis based on logic and fact.
counting the number of days fronm Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday is 46.
subtract the Sundays gives you 40 days - so now you can drink on the Sunday as it is not strictly Lent as such (this is according to my auld lad who is a renowned expert on , eh, don't know really, but it must be true)
God was an Irishman so he'd allow you a pint for PAddy's day - so that's a few chances to have a few scoops.
Now, bet you'll feel really tempted next Sunday! The old moral dilemna.

I hope the non-NCD people wont be put off by coming down to Balbriggan we even have a Taxi/cab service down here..lol
Any one needs a balbriggan Cab should use G Cabs 018417777 I find them reasonable enough ask for a price before u use them If u r coming from Dublin I'ld ring them before hand to book them and ask for a price I always get them to come collect me in Dublin and they are cheaper than getting a taxi off the street

Myself and Lynn for sure-by old buddy Tony (Tonto) says he'll be there with Anita.
Sharon-I checked with Marion over the weekend and she reckons it's Thirteenth Floor who are playing???
Said this will be their first time at O'Shea's,doesn't know what they are like but insists that because they are playing in O'Shea's they will be good.
The Great Escape were on last Friday (boo hoo-missed them-great band) -anyone thinking of getting married should book them for a reception (no Neil Diamond or Tina Turner from them) and then maybe Crusty afterwards as a DJ? I'd go to that wedding!
See ya all Friday...

Agree re Great Escape. Great band! Speaking of bands around the pubs, weddings etc., we got a band called "Loose Change" at our wedding and they are brilliant - I think some of the older people at our wedding were a bit perturbed/confused to hear them play Gimme all your lovin', Teenage Kicks to name just two of the great playlist they had..we first saw them at a friend's wedding in 1999 and then in Gibneys in Malahide one Sunday afternoon in 2000, then we rushed out to book 'em - if you see them advertised for a pub near you, check them out!!

Yeah, reckon they could be older alright Rolo! Nice lads! They invited me and Siobhan on stage for the last song of their final set at our wedding and had us singing semi-karaoke with them for "Everybody needs somebody" (or whatever that song is called) by the Blues Brothers. In a giddy moment, I shouted "Hello Dublin" into the mike (always wanted to do that!!!) but I'm not sure if anyone heard me with the noise of the band and everyone in the crowd singing! Nice feeling though!!

Sharon | Hiya Sharon, I'll be there Fri nite as well, Muller has kindly offered me a lift as he lives near me. I saw that band Loose Change many times in the Green Dolphin, now the Watermill, they played there on Fri nite just gone, and it was an excellent gig. I think the lead singer who was originally from St Annes, lives out here in Donabate. Really looking forward to Friday and meeting everyone

Hey Sharon, this is too weird, we'' all be looking around trying to spot each other. We should arrive about 9.30 or so. We're collecting Polly at about 9.00. Is there a place we should aim to congregate? I don't yet know anyone. Maybe we should mention to the barman who we are. (That should get us kicked out)
