I've kept a diary since I was 12yrs old.........I keep them all together in a special little box and whenever I feel sad I take one out and read it....and end up in knots laughing at what a depressing little teenager I was. I even have the one of the night I met HD down the grove....but I'll never tell what it says

I have stuff from very early as a kid, nothing kept from later years. I don't think I actively threw anything out specifically - more just could never be bothered keeping anything.
I have far too many signed photos of/from Frank Stapleton, who was my hero at the time. I also have a signed photo of the Irish team the day Pierse O Leary played for them for some reason and a Christmas card from the Arsenal team of 1979.
Frank's da worked with my da - seemed incerdibly exotic to have a link to such a famous guy.
I also have about four hundred pairs of football socks that I am definitely throwing out. Promise.

Thats a great way to do it - keep all the crap from your youth but in someone else's house!!! Fair bit of that around from what I read on here - eh Rolo? I'll be copying my mother on this when TLF moves out - here's your backpack and here's your sixty boxes of crap. When you move it all moves with ya!!!!
funnily enough because of that I've very little memorabilia left - do have the Grovepass though. I chucked the diaries years ago - wish I'd kept them now, wasn't a space issue just couldn't read them without getting morto!!!!!!!

Used to collect T-Shirts - you know, Slane 85 and all that. We moved house last year and most went in the skip. Pity really, could never see myself wearing them again. Other than that, nothing really, unless you can say old 45s and 33s. Oh, and my Grove pass....

I still have my wedding knickers!!! LOL just to remind me of the size of my arse back then!!!! There's still hope.
I have all kinds of things from my past. Had a great little diary at home but my wicked sis in law fecked it out! It was full of St. Annes stories and past pupils!!!
I even had a pressed flower from one of the debs I went to in it. I have all my old ticket stubs and school photo's. I have all my valentine cards from way back. Very sweet I must say. I even have my very first love note from a little lad I went out with from Kilkenny. I have the first necklace I ever got off a guy.

All my concert stubs going back 30 years.
My Grove membership card.
Old photos going back to 70's.
All my vinyl albums and singles.
A "loon" jacket from 1972.
A denim jacket from 1977 with Status Quo and Randolph embroidered on it. Randolf were a great local rock band then. The lead guitarist was Sean O'Connor, an old school pal, who later went on to the Lookalikes.
Man U colour photo from Manchester Evening News dated March 1957 of the then Man U team, most of whom died a year later.
My mothers horseshoe which she had at her wedding in 1948 and a photo of my Da and Ma taken the same day.
A poem my Ma wrote on Christmas 1962 about the grand opening of our extended kitchen which my Da so proudly built.
A glass vase I got to celibrate 25 years in Aer Lingus.
A lovely glass lamp my Da got when he retired from Aer Lingus in 1979.
A load of Man U programmes going back to 1974.
But most of all my Da's ring that he always wore and I always wear now...thanks Chris.

Oh Lesley I hear your pain. I left home when I was 18-19 and my ma kept my room the same for years and then all of a sudden, she cleared everything out along with all my albums (sale of work was the lucky recipient of them), ticket stubs etc. I had also kept a toy electric train set, still in its box in perfect condition to give to my son, who is nearly 8 now and would just love it, which also went to a sale of work. I was mad at her for a long time but she is me ma so .........

I kept a diary religiously when I was 16 - 17 and anything that had significance to anything at all - even an old leather glove that smelled like a boy I fancied (God love the boy!)...until my parents read my diary and I was grounded for a year!! I managed to sneak out to the Grove by saying I was babysitting. So I learned then, NEVER to put my thoughts in writing - I was in trouble even for thinking about boys!

I moved too many times to have any trace of my youth left, everything is gone . I wish I had kept my Grove uniform! I had a great army jacket that I spent weeks embroidering a girl with massive hair on the back of, and a pair of jeans (practically spray on) that had an embroidered snake that wrapped from the top of my leg to my ankle. Thought it was very cool at the time hahahaha..now I think it was just a bloody work of art!! wonder what my kids would make of them? Wonder how much too small they would be for me now too!! AHHHHH

Should have kept them,Carol-would still make heads turn.
Sorry to say I don't have anything from my childhood but from my teens still have all the records *not so much the tapes) and like BR all the concert tickets and books.
Moved to many times to keep what didn't seem to matter during the packing.
Until recently I had a brick from Grafton St. Remember during the early-mid eighties Grafton St. was tiled? One Saturday trekking up to the green while it was being surfaced with whats there now I picked one up as a keepsake! Drew pictures on it and wrote all over it and it looked quite goofy.Came accross it while clearing out dad's house before selling it and thought 'what was I thinking' and threw it out.
Sorry now-should have kept it.

Hi Brunswick
We all had "the uniform" back then, remember? Duffle coats that had to be swinging open regardless of the weather? Desert boots, clogs (which are back in over here AND I have another pair!), tight tight jeans that had to be taken in each time there was a hint of movement in the fabric, grandfather shirts, indian hippy shirts, Chinese jackets from the markets at the green!. I remember once seeing a girl wearing a full chinese dress with footless tights and thinking it was THE most exotic gear I had ever seen in my life. Since then have been through Asia and picked them up for the equivelant of 3 euro! We all thought we were so cool and "original", anti fashion heros...but really we were just victims of a different fashion hahaha. The joys of being a teenager and trying to "find yourself"
