With you on this Lenny. Hate these dark evenings.
That's why in 49 days I'm outta here for 6 weeks in Thailand
Wouldn't spend a full winter here again and as I go mid December I don't get caught up in all that Christmas shopping hassle.

Ah Lenny, don't start with the Christmas countdown. We haven't even done Halloween yet!
I don't mind the dark evenings so much, it's getting up for work while it's still dark that kills me. I'm not a morning person at the best of times so for me, that's the most depresseing thing of all!

Dark evenings can be a pain but winter has its advantages too. Nice long evenings to relax and do the things we wanted to do in the Summer but never got around too. A time to reflect also, to thank God you have a roof over your head, shoes on your feet and a meal on the table...........................so its not all darkness - always light at the end of the tunnel.

yep, love the seasons, especially Autumn. Put the lights on my push bike today, just finished cutting out the pumpkin - looks great, will take a pic during the week. As for Christmas, I ignore all the hype and rushing around. When I see something that'd make a nice pressie, I'll get it and keep it till Christmas. If you want to see madness, go into Smyths or the like in a week or 2 and watch people panicking. (mind you, on second thoughts I'll probably be there on Christmas Eve panicking) Think I'll check out flights....

Have to agree with you Roundyabout the seasons. I love Winter. I like lighting the fire and the feeling of it being too cold and dark to do anything (lazy!!) Just when you've had enough of that spring starts to arrive!
I love the other seasons too. Living in Australia for so long I really missed the change of seasons. We would make an annual trip up to the Blue mountains every year just to see the Autumn colours! They lasted about a week. Christmas in the sun always seemed wrong to me!

And so all the Christmas stuff is suddenly in the shops...the onslaught begins. I saw a black christmas tree in Tesco's today. Was tempted but my other half loves the real thing, regardless of the fact that it sheds needles all over the place. Oh well, nothing the hoover won't take care of and I do like the smell of real Christmas trees. Very seasonal.

It certainly is Jen,
We've had so many recalls of lots of toys and dolls this year.
Either it's too much lead paint from China or coated with drugs!!!
Thats what happens when these big companies get everything made in 3rd world countries.

Anyone know where to get a Wii? Have a friend in a blind panic over this one - God we were lucky if we had Scrambler - anyone remember that "video game" it was grey with a mini joy stick and a little better than the Atari tennis! I still have it and it works perfectly - the kids haven't figured it out yet but can manage the nintendo ds!

We also have one of those little tikes cars in our back garden and just like Mary it's been there for about 15yrs with kids climbing all over it. One would sit in the driving seat while the other would be on the roof of the car........then when they got bored with driving it...it was then turned upside down and used as some kind of space ship and it has never broken.......such a shame that toy company closed down...brilliant toys.
Sinead I was only asking about the Wii in Game on Saturday morning and the guy behind the counter reckons they are getting loads more in and that the panic about none left is all just hype.....he told me to ring them on Tuesday, if thats any help to you.

you're probably right Bluebell - I heard Smyths were taking deposits for Wiis at the weekend. Last year Sinead, Nintendo DS were totally out of stock 2-3 weeks before Christmas. A friend of mine got 1 for me in Carlow. A week later they were all over the place. Hope you get yours. CP

I got our Wii last year, ordered it before it was released and our kids love it but only seem to play it when I'm home. Pity the games are so expensive. Using the Wii at least gets them off the couch to play the games unlike many of the playstation and x-box versions.

Thank God I got one (a Wii) a few weeks ago in Hmv and even then there were only 5 in stock.....hate that Christmas panic over one item. There was a notice in Golden Discs today that they had none in stock either.
I always remember being in that situation looking for Buzz Lightyear some years ago.....I even rang FAO Shwartz (NY) in desperation and they had none either. Then there was a radio phone- in competition which I entered countless times and couldnt believe my luck when I won a Buzz Lightyear. On going to collect it, a man in the building advised me not to walk through Dublin without putting it in a bag or it might be snatched from me!

Thanks guys I have passed the info on, thank god I dont have any high demands like that this year! Phew! No the latest rage in our house is the Sylvanian Grand Hotel - which by the way is already sold out! I did manage to get one though because there was a great deal on in Smyths where you got loads of gear with it.

Grovegirl, I remember all that fuss over Buzz Lightyear because my lad wanted one for Christmas. We searched Dublin and couldn't get one. I felt really bad about it but luckily he was happy with what he got instead, bless him. He's always been an easy-going kid. If it was Ciara now it would be another matter altogether! Still, it taught me to buy early for Christmas in future.
I heard a woman asking in HMV in Swords today if they had any Wii's coming in but they said not until after Christmas. Looks bad for anyone who's looking for one. Thank God Andrew opted for the Xbox!
