Brilliant pics, KB. Nearly as good as being there (I still have this lousy 'flu). The Rock Lobster doesn't seem up to the usual standard. So many beautiful people, many familiar faces and many new but vaguely familiar. Another great night. Congratulations to Andy and Tina (enjoy the holiday) and all the the others who were instrumental in keeping the Grove alive. And thanks to Cecil for the memories

Just been looking at the photos and they are brilliant. Oh man, what a great night. It was great to see so many of the forum members there and the t-shirts looked great. Always one to be different, I didn't wear mine. Took a santa hat instead which ended up being worn by Cecil. Very stylish!
Great music, great fun. It was brilliant to see the documentary again. Took a while to get started but I think we're all a bit more self-conscious these days and nobody wants to be first up on the dancefloor. Although I was itching to get up when Andy played "Fire Woman" by The Cult.
Carol, it was a real pleasure to meet you at last. Looking forward to seeing you on the 12th. Lovely to see everyone else; Peter, Floyd, Tonto, Ciaran, Gary, Brian, Whipper, Blondie, Grainne, Polly, Kay, Jackie (How's the knee?), Rolo, Mel, Bluebell, HD and of course Andy and Cecil. Apologies to anyone I've overlooked but you all helped to make it a great night. When's the next one?
What time did it finish btw? I was dragged reluctantly out of there just before 2am. Please tell me I didn't miss too much.

Was only able to make 11 pm - 1 am myself, but a great couple of hours. Wished I could have stayed until 3 am. First time in The Button Club and its an excellent venue. Best of all when was Cecil saying he was 'very fond of the goth period of the Grove'. Great memories alright. Deadly photos.
Happy new year to all !

I had great intentions of heading early, but couldn't drag myself away. Stayed until the lights went on and then legged it for a taxi.
No hangover and no sore neck today. Great great great night. Thanks again to Killian, Andy, Cecil and all else who sail the good ship Grove for us partygoers
Lovely to meet some new faces (Carol, Fran and Robbie) and some familiar ones as well (think Jen has most of them listed up there, but great to re-meet Black Planet after all these years)
Going to sneak a look now at some pics if I get a chance

Gary we made a great pair of bouncers at the Old Dubliner didn't we? Standing in the doorway having a fag and people coming along asking "excuse me, are they serving meals in there?" " No sorry, we are full" says Gary and I! *LOL*

Great pics KB and Grainne. Nice to meet everyone again (and Robbie and Carol, nice to see ye there) - such a pity I had to leg it at midnight for my lift but I had a ball for the hours I got to stay there.
I bumped into Robbie outside the Button Factory at around 7.50pm, just before the doors opened - me not realising that we were standing around the side of the place outside these suspect looking doorways (fire exits I presume), occupied by suspect looking lads and lasses dressed in shiny tracksuits, skulling stonehouse cider....just about 8pm, as two of the lads started into one another -using choice language and flailing their fists about shouting "no blades or bottles", Robbie said to me "Are you sure this is the entrance? - maybe we should try around the side?" Sure enough, we werent standing outside the actual door into the place....the sad thing is that I was there for the Halloween reunion but couldnt remember the way in - I blame the 4-5 pints we had in the Neptune beforehand last time....

Hiya Grainne,
I think we met briefly early in the evening when the documentary was being shown (in or around that time). I lost track of the amount of people (both from the forum and old friends from the Grove) that I met throughout the venue the other night. At one stage, I was heading towards the toilets and met three or four people I knew en route - was a great night!
Will definitely catch up on 12th!!

Well the photos are great Thanks to you all for posting them.
Mel mucho thanks for the lift home. The oul head had had enough at that stage
Too much of a good thing !!!!!!!
Carol--If your ever stuck for a job you make a great "Entry Consultant " It was a screem turning people away from the Oul Dubliner" Hope the management don't get to hear about it.
Great to meet all the old heads as well as Carol Finno and Robbie for the first time
Thanks to you all ( Tees look great--worth the effort I think ??)

The unidentified guy on the left in the picture is Grove Legend Eugene Glancy (spelling?). He's a mate of one of the regulars on here if I remember right. His brother Noel was voted Ride of the Grove 1984 1985 1986 by most of the ladies I used to chase (in vain)

Eugene hasn't changed in the 20 years since I have seen him either, the swine!

Fester.....Eugene is a good friend of me and HD's and thats his younger brother Peter on the right side of the pic. We'll try to get Noel to come to the next reunion......and your right the Glancy's were legends down in the grove, couldn't meet a nicer bunch of lads

Thanks Grainne for the great pics....I just love looking back over the night. We all had a great time. There's definitely more people i've still to meet so now it's a matter of looking forward to the 12th. In T-shirts again folks?

T shirts sounds like a plan to me Mary, although if the Nep downstairs is anything like the last time we met up in there for a drinkies gathering then there will only be us Grove heads plus a barman and a jukebox there. Its a tad quiet downstairs these days (when its actually open). The stained glass "King Neptune" is still there though - on the stairs now I think?
Edit: Still a nice central spot though and a place that holds a lot of memories!
