Just a twist on the other thread under 'Songs from The Grove'.

Honestly, what was your first fast and slow track to dance to?

Mine was in 1972.

Fast track 'Little Willy' by The Sweet and first slow track 'A Little Bit Of Love' by Free.

No messin, be honest, look at the name of my first fast dance

Poor memory for a young one

Not first kisses, first songs

The kisses came later

Pat,

From a dodgy memory, I think it was "Ripples" by Genesis (fabulous song and one of my faves) and "Whole Lotta Love" by Zep.

Can't remember my first quick or slow at the Grove Pat - honest.

Unlike most on here, I'm not a huge music fan - I like most of the Grove stuff, but it was the atmosphere and the buzz and the feeling of belonging that I was into miles more than the music.

My first slowie was at a St Paul's social a few weeks before my Grove debut - the set included "Living Doll" by Cliff Richard and the Young Ones???? Can that be true? I certainly snogged (or got off with) a girl during that song.

Maybe Cliff Richard isn't too bad after all

Can remember the first fast song - The Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys. I knew the song previously, but had never heard it played that loud - it seemed to take on a new quality.

I mentioned in a previous thread that I also remember Wild Flower by the Cult - a couple of songs in, but memorable as was my first mosh, seemed spontaneous at the time, but then I realised it was the norm...

Slow song not sure - might be 'All out of Love' by Air Supply?

   1. The experience of being there and

   2. hearing music that loud and it being my music.

Jeez,

Sorry Biker Pat but I'm one of those eejits that can't remember the "first" song I heard.

Probably cause I was there to look at the Ladies...n dream....LOL

One of my favorite songs of all time from the 60's though is Jimi Hendrix, Purple Haze. I don't remember too much of Pink Floyd in the 60's. Jeez, who knows "BIKE" by PF" Maybe it was later they started their good stuff. Even today I must admit that Pink Floyd would be my "Most listened" to Group.

I had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd in Cleveland on their LIBERTY BELL tour and Roger Waters just last year. Jazus that was a great concert. His giant PIG balloon finally floated away at a concert in Arizona...(I think) I think some "BUSH" supportors sabotaged it....LOL. On his US tour it was plastered with anti-Bush stuff. Pieces of it were found MILES AWAY.

Complaint....Complaint....Nobody ever gave me NUTTIN at The Grove....Or should I be saying.."Everybody gave me "NUTTIN"

I think it was Pink Floyd wish you were here!

The first guy that ever asked me up was Bow as I was so small and he was so tall and his friends were in a heap laughing and I was really upset... ahhhh so young and embarrassed.  I remember him bending down and saying "what's your name"  "Teresa" says I and he said his name was "Bow".  He had really long hair and was cute to be honest but there was me young and all.... lol.  There was me my first night at the grove with a long hippy shirt and a pair of dead tight jeans.... wow how cool I thought... lol.

Just been listening to "California Man" by The Move.

Remember hearing this in a sweaty summer night in 1972 in the "original" Grove.

What a classic track

Sort of...(going off the point here)

Think it has been proven if you travel in a straight line into space at a certain speed for something like a year or two, then return you won't have aged as much as those still on earth.

BUT unfortunately we cannot go back to 1973 to the Old Grove...

(hmm...just wondering is it possible to hire a professional hypnotist to make you think you have the memory of being there...)

Hey man,

I don't need any help to transport me to those great times. Just spin a record on the turntable and I'm there in the Grove and back to the 60's etc..

Music is the natural time travel machine.

I always seemed to luck out with the women when Cecil played this song in
a slow set:

There was a really strange period in the Grove around the time the
Beatles visited the Maharishi Yogi. Cecil used to sit on the stage and do
this tabla and sitar imression. It was crazy-he wouldn't play Jethro Tull
or David Essex or anything. The only thing that saved us was when
George Harrison released My Sweet Lord. I think it lasted about a year
and a half.

It was like this every night, except instead of Ravi Shankar it was Cecil
doing it.
