Suggested on another thread that everyone bring him something small but beautiful - if you have no money, f.... it bring something you love but understand that he deserves it more than you do.

ok i think u should ask cecil if / when suits him in HBs rather then just picking a date that suits us. Blondie I hate to admit this but I agree with you this time. We done the birthday thing last year for his birthday with present last year. Thanks everyone for a great night last night - apologies - batteries went after 2 pics luckily Frank did the necessary and is so great at putting things up so quickly. Yeah, a very good attendance considering the short notice. As usual,the chat was top quality and the laughing loud although I can't believe yiz made me leave my favourite stool to come round to the front bar. Had to give it away to some randomer. Wondering if Blondie was on a wind up,dressing up as my favourite song Had a great chat with Cecil who reassured us that as long as Andy is interested in banging on with the Reunions,then he's on board. Delighted to hear that. Anyway, really enjoyed the crack and want to reassure Gary that there's no way he's getting me on his fishing boat when there's 14 foot swells hanging around. |

I had a crap weekend........I'm so glad my kids are gone past the baby stage, cos I'm just not able for it anymore. Robbie's sister came home from Spain yesterday and took her kids home .......sorry I'm ranting, looks like you all had a great night so sorry we missed it cos I loved the last night out in HB's. Well said Frank, I still have fantastic memories of my visit last year and I feel very very priviliged to have been allowed to spend Cecils birthday with you all. It is something I'll never forget. It looks like a great night was had by all. Frank and Verona, thanks for posting the photos - everyone looks so well. Gary didn't know you had a fishing boat - Love to fish ( actually love to eat fish that I have caught). BB sorry you had such a bad weekend. Sometimes everything just goes ar*eways. Hope next weekend is a lot better for you. Les - fine weather winging it's way to you - it is blowing up a storm here. I found a box in my folks attic today - 59 diaries belonging to my dad -started them the day he married and finished the day he died. A complete social comentary on the last 60 years. Some of the relations will be shaking in their boots - he recorded EVERYTHING. ------------- mary |

Wow Mary what a find, all your dad's old diary's, I'd say you'll get some great reading in those. Those diary's are priceless. I've been keep a diary since I was 13yrs old and reading them back makes me laugh and sometimes cry. I appreciate that this post is a bit out of date but I have to agree with Frank. L and I were only there for a few minutes on Saturday but it's probably the best half hour I've spent in a long time. The ladies were looking splendid and the conversation was great. You feel so safe being amongst friends who you know won't be bitchy or critical (dunno about that, but not vicious). back to watching the match. See you on 17th. ------------- Life is for living |

Mary that is fantastic! did you know he kept them? WOW..what a treasure to find, what a legacy! Much more valuable than any "assets" he may have left behind. I wrote to my mother every day when we first moved to Australia 20 years ago and sent off a big letter every week or 10 days. I found out about 10 years ago she kept every one of them and then she gave them back to me. They have the kids first day at school, moving to different towns, etc etc. Fabulous record of a new immigrant family in Australia. I will keep them safe now for the generations of "Aussies" to come so they can know their roots and what it was like to just "up and leave" Ireland and settle into a strange place. We dont' realise when we are jotting down our day to day experiences how valuable they may be to those we leave behind when we are gone.! Delighted for you Mary and delighted for the reminder to "protect" what I have in a box upstairs. |
