Where and when and with whom (if you remember) did you have your first alcoholic drink?
Mine was when my Da took me to Kavanagh's on the Malahide Road. I had completed my Inter Cert and I'll always remember I had two glasses of Guinness and they tasted like heaven.
That was in 1969 and the next time I had a jar was when my Da took me to Kealy's pub in Cloghran, with my Ma, and that was in 1971 after my Leaving. And the rest as they say is history
Great way to be introduced to alcohol and I did the same with my two sons but not in the same places

Coles in Fairview ( as it was called then beside the cinema which was still open then )
A pint of Bass, snuck down to me at the very back of the bar by my mate who was a lounge boy for the summer. Then onto the 44A and to the Grove.

Barney's on Eden Quay, beside Liberty Hall.
Probably Harp, remember thinking it was sh*te and having to put a drop of lime in it.
Was a late enough starter, would have been 17 I reckon.
Making up for it now though

I'd say my first drink was a whiskey, my Da always had a bottle in the press and we used to take a slug and pretend to be drunk. Advanced then to flagons of cider in St Annes park. First pint was the tv room in Dollymount House. Being the tallest I had to go to the hatch and the barman would have to stick his head out to see ya. A pint of Harp and not to forget "Sally O Brien , the way she might look at ya"

First drink was a pint of smithicks. Would have been '87 direction after the Inter Cert. Still amazed I got served, it was in the old airport hotel (now the Regency) on the Swords Road in Whitehall.
We used to have Harp at home, particularly at xmas - one or two were not noticed as disappearing from time to time.

Pre Grove, I did the knacker drinking thing once - mixed spirits from the parent's drinks cabinet. Added a load of water to make it look like I was drinking more.
My first ordered pint in a pub was the Cricket, aged about 17 (like Rolo I was a late enough starter, and am making up for it too ). Ordered it, they left it to settle, and a little voice told me to knick it. I did - probably the only thing I have ever robbed in my life.
As for Harp - I like harp, always have done. Nice bitter lager. Has a terrible name, but the taste is good. I know people who get bad hangovers from it, but I get much worse from American lagers.

My first drink was about 3 bottles of Stag in my friends caravan down in Rush. I was about 16yrs. I was the tallest of all my friends so they put loads of make-up on me and stuffed my bra and sent me into the local off licence and they served me no problem........no id's needed in those days. Glad times have changed.

Smithwicks...I suspect the first of a lot of us...
My cousin plied me with it one Christmas,so when it came to having a drink before the Grove,it was a safe bet as I knew I could drink at least one, maybe two.
Still like a pint of it now, only on occasion...

I started real drinking in Verlings ( Pebble Beech ) then used to take a short cut to the Grove through Green Lanes school.
My girlfriend at the time was Lorraine Hogg ( Lola ) from Mt Prospect Ave. When she went to Switzerland as an Au Pair I was free to "play"

Apparently the first time I got drunk (also my first drink) was at Christmas when I was 3. I downed my Mum's Babycham when she went to answer the door and people only realised what had happened when I started swaying and crashing into things on my tricycle.

A bottle of vodka in Cafferkey's Garage with Marie Cafferkey and Mo. God walked into the grove ( old grove) headed for the loo and walked straight into the wall.... Got thrown out we could not go home so we tried to sober up in At. Annes, fell asleep and woke up at 3 am we were all killed and not allowed out for a month.
Ahhh good times.

First drink was Smithwicks shandy at 18. Took the confirmation pledge, so at 18 went for something safe, & looking back on it now it tasted like sewer water, still can't stand the smell of Smithwicks. Guinness all the way!!!!

Shared a six pack of Smithwicks with about 6 friends one night (think I consumed about half of one of the old small bottles) at about 16 years of age. Shared a six-pack of stag a year later with a friend down in St Annes Park, before the Grove, and got drunk for the first time - jeez, if only I could get drunk that cheaply now....

Depends on your mood also. Some night you go out & four or five pints & you feel that nice warm glow. Other times you can't seem to get merry, unless the shorts come into play! Ummmmmmmmm......Pernod & black, or JD & coke, OR Absinthe (great wallpaper stripper!)
