Hi there, Well as most of you know we've been working hard trying to put together this documentary for RTE. And this is where we really need your help... If anyone has any sort of Grove archives/ memorabilia - footage from your Grove days/ photos/ newspaper articles/ homework journals/ diaries or anything else relevant.. could you please get in touch asap! might have a grove card and vandalised wallet at home. That the sort of stuff your looking for? Have a few grove cds aswell, but i made them up years after the grove finished. ------------- work. the curse of the drinking classes!

Grove card would be super. Vandalised wallet sounds good too. Anything from the time - homemade t-shirts, letters from your mates telling them about a great Grove night they missed when they were on their summer holidays, letters from French students who were here for the summer, talking about the Grove... or even concert tickets from the time... Anything Grove related really. Thanks! |

sorry grove doc for not getting back to you sooner, ive been out sick for a bit and have lots of stuff going on. Anyway, tore the house apart last night but couldnt find my grove card. I know i still have it somewhere!! ------------- work. the curse of the drinking classes!

I wish I had joined earlier. I have this thing that I stole from the Grove 33 years
ago.It's called a wife...can I give her back? I have two posters that were on the walls of the old Grove before it went up in flames. One is a batik of ABBA"s first album cover and the other is of Leonard Cohen ...The quality of the art might very well be the reason it was sent up in flames now that I look at them. Myself and the brothers painted posters for Cecil and he still owes us for half of them. I think the deal was 3 pounds per poster( old money-pre decimal- back when it was half a crown admission) but there was always some wheeling dealing as to whether he really wanted to buy them after they were painted, so he put them on the wall for a trial period of about ten years before paying us. Half of the things were of obscure artists like Marsh Hunt or Mike Bloomfield or anyone that had a nice hairstyle, but of course Jimi H & Beatles, Dylan, Clapton and even Gilbert O Sullivan were included. Cecil would never let us paint the backwall and I still can't forgive him for that...It was far too expensive for his budget. (quoted at 15 pounds!!!!) Many hours sitting on the stage was wasted trying to clinch that deal. Precious time that i could have put to good use picking up babes. Put that in your documentary and smoke it why donntcha..Silas Cecil...heheh |

Hi guys....we heard that the documentary was on in February...and after
checking the paper every week...no joy. Just afried that we'll miss
having a good laugh at ourselves....well if we can't laugh then no-one
elce can. So has anyone out there heard any news when it's gonna be on ?

we'll need a few large drinks before we sit down to watch it....it's

Well on the night the documentary was been filmed and after alot of
bacardi and cokes guess we thought we looked "cool" and felt we were
16yrs old again....but in the cold light of day....we are in our 40's
and I can just hear my kids laughing at the tv and then dying of
embarressment watching their mum and dad making a fool of themselves
for the whole country to watch......Ah well it was a bloody brill night
and I would do it all over again.....I think !!!

Hi... I guess it's too late but I have photos actually taken in the Grove (why I brought my camera to the place god only knows, and how it got out of there still functioning is another mystery)..... also I have several letters and diaries depicting awkward mortifying moments in minute detail.............. however, they are all in my Mothers house in Raheny, and I am in Sydney, and although I may now (age 33) have some sort of adult relationship with my mother, I still don't think I could bring myself to allow her to dig them out! |

| OK. Here is a direct quote from my diary after coming from the grove.... names have been changed to protect...well I don't know. Saturday 3/8/88 2.07am : "Convinced Cliona to go to the Grove. It was deserted when we got there, then crowds came from the Hothouse Flowers. Was dancing with someone called Derek, no actually it was Frank - and quickly escaped when he got a bit personal. I wasn't in the mood! Then met David B who knew me - he used to do the milk round. Was talking to Karen K who is into George O. I was talking to Anto later and mentioned it. He was with some guy and they were calling themselves something like the Magic Miracles. They told me I could join the six club and they gave me a badge with a six on it. Strange! Oh yea some American guy asked me to dance. I said no. Then I got talking to this other guy Derek who was very nice. Well he was OK. Then a guy asked me to dance, Andrew - wow talk about a creep. I literally dragged myself away - pulled his arms froum around me and ran! Derek was amused! Goodnight. PS Rob's a bastard. So is Paul. PPS Forgot to mention it's all off with Cormac since yesterday." |

I've got my Grove card (no photo) a long floaty dress that was my pride & joy then and a tape I made of Grove music! brilliant fun wasn't it? hop in and have a few more chats wowo-some of the gang from here are meeting in Clontarf castle tonight 9ish so watch the post tomorrow & next week!! I have more, will add some more later. I am proud to say that I know the exact fate of my Grove card, it was confiscated due to me being too drunk. Half a can of Ritz probably did the job! |

Tell me about it! I'd love to be out tonight. Kay and I went to school together and palled for a long time and only met up again here on the site. I spoke to her tonight for the first time in donkeys years... mad. Sounded like they were having fun alright. By the way you could of went tonight and they would have loved to have you. Hi guys.....just got a phone call from a friend of mine from the grove years and her cousin works for Annimoe Productions who made the documentary for tv. She said that there is still no date for it to be aired on R.T.E but she has a D.V.D of some of the footage from that night and she's gonna call to see me this week with it. Lol @ the turkey baster I bought a new one the other night old one was plastic this one is steel i thought it was rather medical when i bought it maybe it is....lol....not that it'ld be used medically in this house..lol

Hi guys....just back from very sunny and very hot Spain today, hope you all had a great night out on the 7th, looking forward to reading all the posts. Just wanted to let you know that I saw the DVD (10mins) of outtakes of the documentary tonight and laughed and laughed and laughed....mostly at myself and hubby !!!! If this was the outtakes then the real thing is gonna be brilliant, just watching everyones faces and re-living those wonderful years.....and everyone looks well into there 30's/40's/50's...apart from a handfull. My daughter asked me "why are all those mums and dads dancing like that and acting crazy?"...I told her cos we were all having fun....and she just looked at me very strange and said ok. Anyway I would love to say that you all look well but I can't cos I don't know what you all look like. We are gonna make a copy of it but if the documentary is on tv soon then you should all wait to see the real thing....this DVD is only 10min long. Has anyone heard when it's gonna be on tv ? I will ask my friend to ask her cousin again if she has heard anything.....at this stage we will be all drawing our pensions before we see the real thing....!!!! ------------- You are what you wanna be....age doesn't matter |
