pantera were a heavy metal band from the 90s. they split up, and the lead guitarist formed another band, damage plan, before being shot on stage last year.
zepplin are good, so are the doors.

Zeppelin were my band when I first got into music as a kid. Then it was the heavier stuff I liked,Communication Breakdown,Wholo Lotta Love,Rock and Roll etc.Now I tend to listed to the folkier stuff more.
Have you ever seen their movie " The Song remains The Same "
Magic. Page is just awesome. Best ever guitarist for my money.

Rolo,
Watched the Catherine Wheel last night.........have to say I didn't really like it. Is it an aqcuired taste like Guinness by any chance? Maybe just listening to the audio is less distracting, I presume you've watched it many a time?
yeah I knew Roberta Flack sang it, but I don't think it was her song originally tho I could be way off the mark.

Xgh,
I came into work this morning swearing that I wouldn't go near this forum until at least two or three o'clock, but oh no just had to have a little peep and guess what..............
The dance doesn't do it for me,it's the soundtrack, think " Eyes Wide Open " is a great song and as for " What a Day That Was " ,you've seen it in the live show, brilliant.
If you didn't like The Catherine Wheel, steer well clear of " My Life in the Bush of Ghosts " with Eno, or you'll never talk to me again.
Anyway,no idea who wrote your girly song.

From the ole internet...
Re The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Folk singer Ewan MacColl wrote this in 1957 for his wife, Peggy Seeger. She was in a play and phoned him for suggestions on a song for a romantic scene. MacColl wrote this on the spot in less than an hour, playing it over the phone for his wife to use in her play.
It was used in the 1972 Clint Eastwood movie Play Misty For Me. It gave a great deal of exposure to the mostly unknown Flack.
It won the Grammy in 1973 for Song Of The Year.
Many artists have covered this, including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Mel Torme, Isaac Hayes, and Gordon Lightfoot.
My life in the Bush of Ghosts is the one my husband reminded me I can't stand. Apparently the last time he tried to play it when I was in the house I nearly ran out screaming. Wisely he now indulges when I'm out! Amazing how the imagination of one man can write stuff I love and stuff that I'm allergic to!

At least I'm not the only one that likes it.( Bush of Ghosts.)
Never even knew Ewan McColl was married to Peggy Seeger. She is responsible for one of my favourites ,Springhill Mining Disaster. Bono and the Boys have been known to give it a rattle on occasion.
She also wrote " Lifeboat Mona " which has been discussed in the Song Lyrics Forum.
Are you familiar with " The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald " that eejit and Stevie have been discussing ?

Kay Lou Reed! Wow forgot that one! Great song also - I have been looking for the photo's by the way, no sign yet - I'll boot Martin if he got rid of them! If it doesn't move he gets rid of it. I suppose I'm lucky to still be here...RRRRRRR perhaps in the attic in my Irish box!!! That's a weekend job! Don't worry I'll get them.
Thinking of something this morning! Remember trying out for the sing out! You and I did our audition together. Remember we danced and then Sister somebody "who knows" said - now can you do your dance! You and I stood there looking at each other saying "That was it"..... The bloody cheek! We must have been crap...

Wonderous Stories-Yes
Us & Them-Pink Floyd
Carpet crawlers-Genesis
Dreams-Fleetwood Mac
Blue Monday
... I was watching Queen in Concert at Wembly the other night on TV and my 4yr old daughter who was sitting curled up on the sofa next to me turned and said "Is she a man or a woman daddy?" The poor child was so confucious with Fredrick Mercurys gender that she even called me daddy instead of mommy. I just said "I don't know son, I don't know ... ..."

Hello again Pat,
Molly Hatchet, now there's a name I haven't heard in years. This is funny actually, just last Saturday in Virgin Megastore on Times Square, I'm having a look around, trying to spot some rarities not available here, and I spotted a Molly Hatchet album and mentioned to my wife that it was a name I hadn't heard in years.
Have to say that your taste is wonderfully diverse and may I add very up to date.
Went to the Scissor Sisters in Lansdowne in August and was dead impressed.

1. Save all your kisses for me - Brotherhood of Man
2. What's another year. - Johnny Logan
3. Welcome Home - Peters & Lee.
4. Men behind the wire - Barleycorn
5. Long haired lover from Liverpool - The youngest Osmond.
I hope you like my musical taste. I used to like Zeppelin, Genesis, Floyd etc. But ever since BikerPat introduced me to his record collection, I have gone in a different musical direction. Thank you Pat for saving me from that hippie - drivel.
