We were talking also about wanderly wagon! ahhhhh the memories and that irish show where he would draw a duck - can't remember the name.  Remember Halls pictorial weekly on the radio.  Also thinking of Grange Hill.

Speaking of Wanderly Wagon.

I remember my folks used to take us up to the Dublin/Wicklow mountains in the 60's. We'd drive as far as Newlands Cross, turn left towards the mountains, pass Urney's sweet factory and then come to a junction (big junction now after Tallagh Centre), turn right and head towards Blessington. On the right were lovely little cottages, now apartments etc, and on to a little turn left to Kilbride.

We'd picnic by a stream and who was also there but Mr Wanderly Wagon himself.

Now what the f**k was his name.........
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Rock on Mins.

Yeah they used to camp near where we had our picnic. Really.

This was a really quiet place back then. I've tried to find it since on my bike but am not sure  of the exact location.

Sheeez...great memories.

O'Brien, Judge & Godmother that brings back memories...I got a Christmas present last year of the DVD of the best of Wanderly Wagon, it all looks so dated and simple now but we thought it was very hi-tech.Funny thing is my 6yr old LOVED it and had a good laugh and wanted to fly in the wagon.

You can still go to the Lambert theatre in Dun Laoghaire, I went to a production of Oscar Wilde's stories for kids, it was brilliant -the little prince...etc. At one point in the show Eugene lambert said "now boys and girls I'm going to introduce you to my friend Judge-do you know Judge? No? (turns to the audience with a glint in his eye) and says "I bet your Mammys and Daddys do"! smothered laughter all over the place.Really good day out and they DO children's parties too (they go to the show and get food & birthday cake afterwards).

Ciaran thank you so much for that, just cannot believe this.

See that boat on the right, the faded one with the little cabin, that was owned by Matt Collins and his son Ger.Many  atime I was out in that boat as a kid. They own the big detached house with the right of the picture. Next door was the McGinleys and then the O'Regans.

You can just about see our house in the other pic, at the extreme left.

Jaysis, I'm flabbergasted here. Appreciate that, thanks a million.

Sorry guys, having a moment there. All back to normal now !

Hate the city centre. Skobes and scumbags wandering around lamped.

But it's nearly time to revisit the parade lark having refused to acknowledge it for the last twenty plus years. I have heard that some of the smaller parades are more pleasant. I might look one of them up.

anyone for NCD have any suggestions. someone here mentioned that Skerries was good (Mel?)

My kids are 3 and 1, so it doesn't have to be anything spectacular - just an opportunity to get them out of the house.

I'm searching for that cash I should have saved for the crash

Ah Guileen is lovely Bluebell. Absolutely nothing to do except walk on the beach, do a bit of fishing, either from a boat or from the rocks. The nearest shop was three and a half miles away, think there were two televisions in the whole village when we used go down and of course we were too young for the pub.Not sure if the kids today would knock as much crack out of it as we did.

Actually went back for a look about seven or so years ago and met one of the lads we used know when we were kids.

Not sure if that was me Whippersnapper - the parade isnt bad I suppose and all the kids get to see it but its mainly just vintage cars (a few) and some floats  - plus clowns and such handing out lollies and sweets.  Having said that, if the weather is good, Skerries is always a nice place to visit (two great bars called Stoop your head and Joe Mays on the harbour are just two of the many pubs here in the town that are well worth a visit!).

Balbriggan has a small parade too-mostly trucks, couple of marching bands,FCA,schools (my son and daughter...we are so proud!) and a fleet of post office vans!!! (cringe)

Mel-love the Coast bar in Skerries...

We did go to town (Dublin) last year for my very first time but only after the parade and yes, while there was some drunkards on the streets, the majority of people was having a good time-plenty of funfair stuff and stalls etc. Enjoyed it-might even go again this year.

Remember collecting ice pop sticks from the ground and bringing them home and making something from Blue Peter or something.

Before the balsa wood ice pop sticks there were plastic coloured ones-sort of trellis type where you could slide one into another and make aeroplanes etc.

I must say that I hated this program but when I look at it now over the internet, I still hate it but remember it well. There was not much choice back then.

I remember making trolleys with the old ballbearings or normal wheels. How simple we were. I also remember doing up my bike with coloured masking tape on the handlebars. Do you remember this?
