The other games I remember are letters in your name and fruit and vegetables where you ran across the road for fruit, didn't move for veg and to the tar line in the middle of the road for tomatoes!!!

God I loved this game one of the few "ball" games I was actually good at and no rude comments Rolo please this is a family thread

But why o why did we say "plainy a packet of rinso "

anyone know the origins of that ????????????

Yep we used to make houses out of them.

Also remember the "horse-jumping" my dad used to set up a whole course for us out the back garden and we would have competitions with all the neighbouring kids.

Thats the other thing I remember we used to go around in packs literally gangs of us in the summer.

all the mums would sit out the front on their kitchen chairs to keep a weather eye on us.

GW,

That was a famous game in Celtic Park. The girls and some boys would skip to that tune for hours.

Wonder who made it up?

Bad petrol.

In the 70's when we were motorbiking we often got bad petrol that blocked up the carbs on the bike.

It got so you'd avoid certain petrol stations because they sold crap petrol.

Remember Muller?

Another skipping song....

'There's somebody under the bed

Whoever may it be? I feel so very nervous

I call for X in' and X joins in etc. Remember that one?

Mary, That sounds like lyrics from that dodgy 80s song by Rockwell "I always feel like somebody's watching me".

Does anyone remember the clapping game.   two people stood facing each other and clapped their hands -   One rhyme was Three, six, nine The goose drank wine The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line   The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat  Clap Clap.

....   My mother told me if I was goody That she would buy me a rubber dolly My auntie told her, I kissed a soldier
Now she wont buy me, a rubber dolly

Your hands would be bright red and as sore as hell after it.   Great days.

I remember the clapping game Mary but I didnt play it (my sisters did though).  I remember the second verse alright but not the first one - although that verse is featured in the movie 'Flatliners' (one of my all time favourites actually, that movie).

Edit: Uh oh, I've now gained the "I have no life" title (I knew that anyway!).  On the plus side, I now have access to Peters Secret Lab!!).

Glad you made it to 5000 !!!! - It will take me a while yet.

I think Killian will have to come up with new titles for people like us Peter - maybe "I REALLY have no life!" or "I have no life - Honest!".  Rolo gets away with it of course because of his "Moderator Group" status..

Edit: Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread folks....
