does anyone remember the long queues in raheny chipper after the grove. never tasted chips so nice after the long walk from the grove. yummy.

you were never afraid to walk home cos there were so many people going in all different directions. you were guaranteed to have somebody walk your way.

Hi Teresa,

God, I used to love that chipper too. When did you go to the cricket? I probably tried to skip in front of you at the bar!!!

Used to walk home from there too. No wonder I was fit back then. Couldn't do it now!!

Still is Finno.

Run by the son now. Think Paddy ( the father ) has retired.

In '72 we had'nt a bean left after the Grove.

On the motorbikes, home. meet top Celtic Park, few smokes and raid the Ma's fridge, that is unless you scored
May be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Hey Teresa,

Went to Tamango's after the grove and cricket. Saw the same crowd go there too. Loved Tuesday nights there. My friend Sinead and I went most weeks. Wasn't the same as the grove tho'

You lucky people, having a leisurley walk to the chipper after the Grove. We had other important things to do - like face the long walk to Howth if we hadn't managed to get a lift. Remember once getting a lift home in a milk truck. Those were the days.

Went to Tamangos also - Tuesday night was 99p night was it not... yeap saints on Monday for 99p night then Tamangos stayed in on Wednesday then down the pub Thursday and back to basics on Friday for the ritual to start again....... Also went to the Summit...

Later went to the Waterfront - did that for a long time and would end up in Leeson Street some of those nights and straight out for breakfast.....

Sure it's no wonder all the brain cells are gone!!!

Would have taken a drink there around 1977 - 1982.

Was there 2 years ago to see Sean O'Connor (guitarist with Lookalikes, an old friend) play a gig.

Methinks there might be a story there Lorri.biggrin

Lesley, The Baggot was sold about ten years ago and pulled to the ground with the idea that it would be rebuilt and re opened. To date the construction work has been at a standstill for quite a while. Pity really. Saw some great gigs in there over the years.

Freddie White, DC Nein, The Atrix, Stepaside...............

PS Welcome to the madhouse, Lesley.

My friends and I went all over Dublin to see some good gigs, Marley Park and Stillorgan, and a place in Temple bar, can't remember the name, they're all gone.

Glad i'm not there to see them go.

Lynch's in Killester - great place for a post-pint nosebag!  Many a time wandered home from the Beachcomber via that chipper for a curry chips & quarter pounder!

I miss getting a garlic chicken kebab from Abrakebabra in Fairview!!! If it's still there, someone have one for me.

Can't get decent late night food like that in Perth!!

Pubs close too early. Can you imagine, my local chipper closes at 8.30pm - even at the weekend.
