A good while back a gang of us were talking about knacker drinking and St. Anne's and the Field's in Mount Temple by the Dart line! Ah those were the days - getting someone else to get your drink in the off-licence while a whole load of you hid in the laneway around the corner or buying drink with a veeeery dodgy ID in Martin's in Fairview. Going out in one set of clothes, giving an excuse of going to your mates for the night and then changing in to PVCs, 14 hole docs and transforming!!! Then trying to remember to change back before you went home!

We would go into the flowin tide and drink our vodka and lime!!!! house cleaner.... or other times it was down the park after robbing the gin or whiskey from home - we would pass around the bottle trying hard to drink it straight... only to end up on the stage pucking it all back up again..... uhhh to think of it now almost makes me sick.

Hi Sharon and eejit91
we used to drink in the flowing tide too....around '82 till '86 . Went back into it last year for the first time in years.....but knew no-body :-( Where have all my old friends gone......remember the toilet ? it must have been the smallest toilet in Dublin...about the size of a telephone box *L* |

A good convent girl is what I am.....went to Dominican Convent Cabra.
We lived off the Navan Road and travelled on two buses on a Sat and Sun
night to get to the grove and then a taxi back home ....see how much we
loved the grove!!!....but we always stopped in the Flowing Tide to
quench our thirst on our long long journey. We must of stood on each
others toes in "the Nep" cos you could never move in the place....

Twas downstairs in the same building as The Flowing Tide. The one across the road was The Plough and the one on Marlborough Street / Sackville Place corner , kinda backing onto the Flow was called the High Tide.Don't know if there's atill a boozer there now and if there is, what it's called. Glad to hear that the Nep is still there.....maybe the next time you guys are all meeting up for a drink we could have it down in the Nep. It would really feel like old times then drinking with old grove friends.
