The weekend can be rather quiet dondon, it can be hit and miss but during the week is normally good.  Lately its been a bit slow but that's because Rolo and the gang have been out golfing when they are supposed to be working! That right lads

Welcome Gerry, (DONDON)

Don't listen to these eejits. The reason it's slow on weekends is because most ppl log on from work...LOL

Anyways, to me The OLD Grovers went to Mnt Prospect. but most on here went to St. Pauls Grove.

Important notice: There is a "Private Room" here that you can't get in to until you reach a certain amount of posts. When I signed up it was 100 but I think the powers that be might have raised that.

That's where all the fun is so get your posts up by posting in all the threads like "Rock ABC"...."Song Title Game" etc.

Congratulations on getting past ROLO's screening out process...hee hee

Hi All,

since I joined the site a few vague memories have come back.

Can anyone remember the entrance fee into(old Grove)I think it was a few shillings or 30p new money.

Can anyone recall on how to join.what was the procedure

I think the first time I went to the Grove I had to be  invited by a friend and sign a book and a fill out an application  till my card was issued. It was pink with white threads as a sort of reinforcment so it would tear easily

Was there a person dealing with appications.I do remember checking to see if my Card was issued and did it come in the post or was it there for collection can't be sure

Of course it was a prize posession and like gold dust.

Can anyone remember other things on how to join and was there a membership fee.Was there a temp card for new members ????

If you weren't from Clontarf ya better have known someone to get past the door...LOL

Don't remember how much it cost to get in.
The procedure was TO BEG and BEG. And usually if the bouncers said NO they meant NO.

I do know it took a while of trying to finally make it. Pogue finally got us in so I'll let him tell the story.

My friends dad brought us down so we were taken straight into the back and signed up straight away for a membership.  No messin just bring your Da down and the bouncers never said a word to us.  Up there for thinking and down there for dancing

 Ah well ,

me thinks it was easier for Girls to join, they never caused any hassel

But it was handy way to join.Am I right in saying the membership card was pink and you didn't need a photo at that time

What Brendan fella says has a certain truth about it.I lived in  St Annes.I just said Raheny as a safe bet and that I went to Pauls and played soccer for Home Farm.

I do remember they would often question you and take your card study it, ask you your Name etc.But after a while they got to recognise you.

They were mostly Cops moonlighting for a few dollars more.

But when it moved to St Pauls they seemed to be a bit more agressive .I saw one assault a lad after it finished outside the Main gate. I knew the Bouncer as he lived on The Howth road around the corner from me

Did any one use the excuse of, I want to get a message to someone  ie Sister, Brother, and tell them I will be only a minute and hope they would forget about you.Any good bunk in stories
