Hello all,

Everyone obviously has their favourite grove songs but if you had to pick just *one* (and only one) song that most reminds you of your Grove days, what would it be?  For example, while it might not be my favourite song as such, when someone says something like "did you go to the Grove then?", the song that always springs to my mind is Layla by Derek and the Dominoes...

How about you!?

Well...can only be one..Stairway to Heaven...

In those days the Grove was the only place you were likely to hear it played except in the comfort of your own bedroom..(or in a guitar shop) and it happened to be my favourite song anyway. Plus the not inconsequential fact that I asked herself up to dance to that song and we then had it put on our wedding video...hehehe!!

So a lot of memories attached to it as I'm sure many a Grover has....

Black Betty. Without a doubt. Not,as you suggest,Mel,my favourite song, but you can't say 'The Grove' without immediately thinking of Black Betty.

I remember one of the first nights I went (in my less than hairy days) hearing the intro playing and suddenly all the heads rose to their feet,in a trance like state, like zombies coming from the grave.

Little did I know that would be me 'shaking my thing' before long.

There are three kinds of people in the world, those who are able to count, and those who can't...

Not my "Desert Island disc*" choice but Freebird always remind me of the Grove. (I could choose 8 songs from the grove without thinking too much about it)

* I like to listen to radio 4.

Great topic Mel.

Again, nowhere near my favourite, but regularly after the albums ( yours and mine ), the first song was " Touch too Much ".

That's my big memory.

So many great songs BUT the ones I remember were the ones that probably annoyed me or that I have strong associations with for example.......

"Teenage Kicks"....that was when all the docks came crashing down on my feet if I didn´t leg it fast enough to the compound. Phew..it could really get out of hand during that song.

"Come on Eileen"...that was the sign that the end was nigh, those merciless lights were going to come on any second and the beauts you were trying to impress or smooch would see the real YOU complete with red eyes, white face, black eyeliner smudged and the icing on the cake - the odd zit or two. The old Shree Indian scarf or the PLO came in handy then to bury your face in !!!!!

Feck off and start another topic on your Books and Luxury items. My Books would be my Dragonlance collection and a magic refilling bottle of Beer thats never empty...

Hmmm still thinking of the song that reminds me of The Grove......

Rock Lobster is not my favourite but the Grove was the only place that played it and the reaction to it was great..
