Just thought we needed something like this!

I will highlight bands name, so people can skim through the thread quickly.

Some tours just announced this week which may interest people.

Neil Young is in Europe in March, so far he has announced 7 Uk dates, including london, manchester and Edinburgh. There is also a paris date, nothing about an Irish date yet. Below is an excerpt from ticketmaster about the shows, looks great!

Neil Young will perform two sets; the first an acoustic performance and the second an electric set backed by a full band consisting of Ben Keith (guitar), Rick Rosas (bass) and Ralph Molina (drums). The tour also has an exciting support artist in the shape of Young’s wife Pegi, who recently released her self-titled debut album, and will be performing with Anthony Crawford.

And the second tour that may be of interest is that hot on the heels of the Led Zep gig, Robert Plant has released tour dates for 2007 with alison Krauss! and not zep, so far only four Uk dates announced, Birmingham, London, cardiff and manchester. This tour is in may. No irish dates yet, but there is a two week gap between cardiff and london shows, so who knows.

Velvet Revolver have tickets for two shows in ambassador in Dublin on sale today, the gigs are on 12th & 13th of March. Expensive enough to see them at €55 plus ticketmaster charges. But may be of interest to G'N'R fans. They still dont play much of the G'N'R back catalogue, just "used to love her"

though just wondering do you work for Ticketmaster ????

No, just that none of the above tickets are on other sites like www.tickets.ie or http://www.wavtickets.com/though most of them can be bought in person from the Sound cellar on nassau st. Smaller shops like Freebird, Road Records or City Records in Dublin, while they sell tickets, they rarely get tickets for the the bigger gigs as ticketmaster doesnt give them to them. So for a lot of gigs in Ireland, there really is not much of a choice unless you work in the city centre of Dublin. Becase even if you buy them in your local spar or music shop in galway, they are just an outlet for ticketmaster.

With putting in the prices & ticketmaster, I was kind of doing several things, one to show how expensive it has become to go gigs over here now, and to show that even though it says €55 on the site, to be aware that there will still be an extra service charge as well, which can really add up if you are getting more than one ticket. Plus for some people who dont go to many concerts they may be unsure of where to get them anymore. If there are other options on where to get tickets, i will mention it.

In the UK, ticketmaster are big but they havent got the same hold as they do over here, and there are other options like seetickets.com or stargreen, or wayahead tickets.
